  1. Does anyone know where I can get Bolex Film Rollers (2) for my EL? The rollers are the "in camera" kind to use with a 400ft mag. I know I can get them strait from Bolex but I'd like to just order them with a credit card/paypal and have them on their way. Non on ebay right now... either. Kip
  2. \\Thanks How much is "a bit" as far as the overexposing goes? Full stop??? Half stop??? More??? Thanks for the info. Kip
  3. Hello to all those who have gone before me, I have access to a few rolls of Kodak 7277 that I want to use for a low budget music video I am shoting the end of this month. I have read Kodak's description of the stock as being "softer" in color and more pastel, which I like, tonaly, for the song. However the exposure photo on Kodak's website mikes the film look like a grainy mess. I wan't to play to the stock's strengths and avoid it's weelnesses. The video will have a female vocal performance using outdoor locations (Natural light) and a studio section which will be more of a Svankmajer's short film... live action and stop motion. Any ideas or input would be apreciated based on your experiance with the stock. Thanks Kip Kubin -
  4. I think the cells are just velcro'ed in behind some leather... I'll see what I come up with Thanks Kip
  5. Does anyone know offhand how many volts a Victory V16B Battery Belt puts out? I don't have a meter and I thought someone might know or have one. I do know the belt powered an Arri 2C. A friend of mine gave it to me as a spare for my Bolex EL but I don't wan't to hook it up until I know hoe many volts it puts out. Thanks Kip
  6. OK... With one of the batteries, what you said does happen... It will run for a very short time 2-3 seconds and the red light goes on and the camera shuts off. With the other battery the camera runs longer but 10-15 seconds and then the motor slows and stops with no red light comming on. So, that's a bit confusing. Nick, Where is a good place to have the camera serviced. Kip
  7. I'll do some better tests. I'm used to cranking my friends bolex so the batteries are a new world to me. I have a feeling that my frame rate dial is off... when 20fps is selected it shoots single frame??? Not too much of a problem, now, as I bought the camera for a stop motion project. Nick, Where is a good place to have the camera serviced. After the stop motion project I want to bump it up to super 16. I'll keep fiddleing with the cam today. Kip
  8. Thanks for this post. I just got my Bolex EL from Ebay with two batteries that are long overdue for replacing. They each last for about 30 seconds after charging for a day. I'm asuming this belt will work also... is that correct? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/4717...ty_Starved.html I'm guessing the AMP Hours dictates the amount of total juice the belt holds and 12v is what the camera will draw from the belt to operate. Am I correct? How long do Amp Hours last on a Bolex EL running the 400 mag as well? Do you guys think it's better to have two belts, one for running/one as a backup just in case, or will a large belt last for days... Just looking for opinions Thanks Kip
  9. Hello Bolex experts out there. I just got my EL in the mail from eBay... as usual it was sitting in someones closet for years. It came with a manual and I've searched this forum but still no answer. How do you tell when and if the battery is fully charged using the Bolex regular charger? How can you tell if it holds a charge well... please describe the symptoms of a bad battery. The ones that came with the cam only run for a short while and the camera dosen't run that well on them either. I just want to know there shot before I buy a battery belt and an adapter to use with the EL as described in other posts. Thanks, Kip Kubin
  10. Download a manual for the Cam... they give a rundown of shooting speed to exposure ratings. %25 of the loght goes to the viewfinder If it's the same as an EL Film Speed Exposure Real Photometric 10fps 1/21 1/28 12fps 1/25 1/33 18fps 1/37 1/50 20fps 1/42 1/56 24fps 1/50 1/67 25fps 1/53 1/70 32fps 1/67 1/93 40fps 1/83 1/110 50fps 1/106 1/1/40
  11. Is a Bolex bayonet mount, say found on an EL, the same as an Arri bayonet mount? Are the lenses interchangeable? Thanks, Kip
  12. Hi Christophe, I liked the location and your composition very much. Very natural hand help work. I would have liked to see some movement with the camera. I was dying to see a tracking shot. There were no pans or dollys in the video. It seemed like you planted the camera and filmed. Maybe you did film some of these shots and they didn't make the edit???? In any case that's what I felt could be better. More motion. Thanks for posting your video Kip Kubin
  13. I'm making a short film and want to use an older 16mm camera for the bulk of the shoot. The film's look is patterned after a 70 documentary that used a CP 16R My thought was to pick one up and film with that but I want to know if there are any problems with that camera or it anyone thought a ACL or NPR might be a good alternate choice. I will be recording sound. If an NPR was high on people's list I could pick one up with a new motor that would sync. Thanks for your help Kip PS:I already have a Bolex and just wan't to add variety to my cameras. That's why I didn't include it on my list.
  14. Thanks guys Could either of you suggest a stock/methos to get close to this look with available stock today? Kip Kubin
  15. Sorry about the photo... I just pulled it off google images to give everybody a general idea. The film was shot in 1968 in London. Thanks Kip I found a better photo... here it is
  16. Does anybody know or can they guess which stock they used to Godards "Sympathy For The Devil?" The sequences that I'm interested are the studio scenes wih the Rolling Stones. Thanks Kip Kubin
