  1. Not to repeat myself, but does anybody know about the C-8 wideangle adapter? I know it fits perfectly on (maybe was designed for?) the 1014 XL-S and with a step-up ring it'll do the 814 too, but does anybody know if it fits the AZ models?
  2. So, with Kodak only making 64K (by the way, what's the K stand for- Ektachrome?), Tri-x, Plus-x, 200T, and 500T, who's making 100D? I know pro8mm and a few other folks *sell* it, but who manufactures it?
  3. [newbie question] What do the letters signify on these films? [/newbie question]
  4. Did santo leave before or after that policy was announced? I had a moment earlier when I wondered if that might be more the reason for his departure...
  5. Thanks for all the info, folks- Anybody know if that C-8 wideangle adapter would fit on the 1014 AZ E? That would probably be the deal breaker right there.
  6. I'm not planning on synching sound anytime soon, so if that's the only difference I may be in the market for a 1014 AZ E...
  7. Japan was awesome. I shot tons of film, I'm really excited to get it all up online and edited. The last day, however, I was shooting some stuff at night, and a little plastic part of my strap that was holding my tripod and camera snapped and the R10 took the brunt of the fall to the sidewalk. I didn't notice anything was wrong until I set up the next shot and noticed everything was fuzzy. My lens had been bumped to the side a bit. It was a little stiff at parts of the zoom, but the focus was working fine. So I need to get it repaired- does anyone know of a good place in Seattle that could fix it? I know of Camera Techs, are they good? Overpriced? Thorough? Anybody else?
  8. Haha, I'm pretty sure that first one is Santo's.
  9. Found this on Craigslist- Anybody know the model number? How feasible is it to shoot regular8 these days? What are the lenses like on this?
  10. I really liked it- the lens length on the girl shots did a good job of conveying the exaggerated focus of those first meetings.
  11. So all I have left is 3 rolls. I know I was all excited to "shoot one roll a day" but um, that didn't happen. Not even close. Two days and 6 rolls later I NEED MORE FILM! So I went to Yama...something, I can't remember- it was this HUGE electronics store- and they had K64, but I was really hoping to shoot some 200 and 500 speed for some night shooting. Oh, I also bought a tripod and head- Manfrotto both- ended up being around 30,000 Yen (slightly less than $300)- I'll get the specific model, but I'm really pleased with it- I went through a ton of different tripods and heads and for my budget this one works really well. It's got really really smooth action-perfect amount of resistance. It's not carbon fiber, so it's not the lightest thing ever, but it was way more stable than some that were substantially more expensive. So! Anybody have any ideas?
  12. Got mine (pristine) for 100. Still, 15? Dayam, that's like finding a minimoog at a garage sale for 5 bucks with a 'doesn't make sound' note on it...
  13. Thanks for that info, Rick- I wasn't aware about the viewfinder issue, interesting. I'm still totally interested in doing that- I'll have to get in touch with you when I'm back from Japan...
  14. Film was new, and it was K64, so it was balanced for indoor use, but I'm almost positive that the filter was in place. I'll check to see how they processed it...
  15. It's totally working- I tried what you said and I could totally see the filter going in and out. Awesome! So the question is- why is my film coming back rather blue? Processing?
  16. Hey Bernie- Great call- I'll try that tonight.
  17. So my first roll of super8 came back rather blue- and as we hadn't displaced the built-in daylight filter, I thought that it could be that my daylight filter wasn't in place/working. I don't have the key to displace the filter, but looking at the slot I was able to see the little tab that the key displaces. When I pushed it down with a kitchen knife it moved smoothly and easily, and I could hear some operation occuring inside the camera, but I couldn't see any change in the viewfinder. Should I be able to see a change? What do you guys think?
  18. Okay, so I found a few shoulder supports that weren't so insanely expensive. Anybody use one with any regularity/success?
  19. Could this be why my 64K shot through my R10 (which should have the daylight filter in place) has been coming back overly blue? How rare is it to run into VNF processing these days?
  20. Hey everybody- I'm going to be traveling to Japan in about a week, and I've been thinking about ways to stabilize my camera for shooting on the fly. I've seen shoulder stock supports around, do they help much? Has anyone used one for shooting super8? How about a very compact/simple 'steadycam' rig? I won't be shooting with a tripod much, because we'll be walking around a lot and carying one would probably be too cumbersome (and too much weight- but that begs the question about whatever steadycam system I try to rig up)... Any ideas for more stable shots on the go? holy bujezus. Shoulder supports are expensive. I could see 50-70 bucks maybe but wow. For a bit of aluminum and foam rubber...
