Most of the time when the shooting is considered "news" and you are invited into a business or residence, no permits are required. At least that's how it was when I was working in news back when I lived in the states.

Incase someone else runs into a similar problem I would highly recommend these wireless holders. http://www.thebecgroup.com/ I was introduced to them back when i was shooting news. I loved them! They never get in the way and you didn't have to worry about your wireless getting crushed. Miles
