  1. Patrick, It is normal to have to use an ND .6 or so to get down to a good exposure on a sunny day. As far as geting down to that stop without having an ND, you could try throwing on a polarizer, it should eat up about two stops.
  2. It could be one of the older, SRII Super16 gates. Supposedly they look the same: I do agree with tim though, it looks like its shot from a suspicious angle.
  3. Looks like 1.85 to me. I think the picture of the gate in this article is super 16, and the two look the same: http://cinematechnic.com/super_16mm/super_...rsion_16SR.html
  4. I have read it and i think its one of the most useful books for the basics of the camera dept. Not only is it great for all of the technical information, it is great for information on the different responsibilities of the camera personel.
  5. The Canon Scoopic has a built-in macro (can't change the lens though) and it also shoots single frame. Last I saw they were on the cheaper side (under 2k, and probably even cheaper).
  6. Blade, Cameraassistantmanual.com has pdf's for film and video camera reports, as well as many other usefull forms. The book is a great resource to have around as well.
  7. Many people may dispute the HVX200 as being full HD, but it does shoot 1080 DVCPRO HD. They are just over 8 grand with two 8 gig p2 cards. Not sure what your wanting to shoot, but I personally think the HVX is great for what it is. You could say its always better to wait when it comes to video, because of how fast the technology advances, but it depends on how soon you need it and if the specific camera will suit your needs for the job at hand.
