  6. I watched a 35mm print of the twice. The IMAX 15/70 has been sold out everyday, but I plan to see it in IMAX soon. Wally Pfister made some daring exposure decisions in this film, yet it payed off well. The night chase scenes at the beginning of the film were very dark, but tastefully so. Action scenes with IMAX cameras and lenses at F2??!! The result looked great in the 35mm print. The tunnel scenes where Batman confronts Bane really showed off how much better 5219 is rhan 5218 at repoducing shadow detail. I watched the cinematographic exposition of the film carefully, the film does not disappoint. I plan to watch a 4k screening of the film also, but I already know I will like the 'teeth' of the 35mm version better. The editing and pacing had a different feel than the other films. I sometimes had the feeling that I was watching the 'directors' cut of a film'. I am not complaining. It had a rawness and not the slick transitions with sound and music that I normally see in A Nolan movie.
  7. Here are pictures of the anamorphic part; http://www.4shared.com/photo/4XYKOqM0/KINOR_35C_VIEWFINDER_PART_3.html? http://www.4shared.com/photo/1VZdXa-2/KINOR_35C_VIEWFINDER_PART_7.html?
  8. The Anamorphic insert for the KINOR 35C/35S 35mm Camera viewfinder. This part desqueezes the anamorphic image from the LOMO anamorphic lenses. A VERY, VERY RARE part. $239 PAYPAL accepted.
  9. I watched the 2D version of the film last Friday, and I enjoyed it. The ALEXA imagery still does nothing for me. The slow motion scenes were shot on an ARRI 435, and you could tell. The one particular scene that showed it, was toward the end when Captain America and Thor are side by side fighting alens in the streets of New York. One minute the usual ALEXA imagery and then - BAM!! 35mm to save the day in Slow Mo! The image suddenly had a 'bigness'. I will say this movie had the most comic book-like camerawork of the many superhero movies made. The acting was enjoyable, the LOKI beat down by the HULK was hilarious. It's easy to see why the film broke a box office record the first weekend. Good acting, good staging and a decent story.
  10. Until The Killing Season 3 begins shooting. Then you'll be shooting 35mm again. Are the driving scenes shot on a process trailer or in a studio? Which locations are sets? I was wondering about the Darren Richmond's hospital room scenes. Is that in a studio with a Translite outside the windows? Thanks!
  11. AMERICAN HORROR STORY on FX shot by Michael Goi and John Aronson would be another new film based TV show. Regarding the testing involved with 5219 and emulating the feel of 5229, did you test pull processing? KODAK 500T 5230 seems to be midway between 5219 and 5218. Were you able to test that filmstock, if so what is your opinion regarding its shadow detail? Regarding the change from shooting '29 to '19, were the lighting setups changed very much? Whenever I watch that show, those overcast Vancouver skies puts me back in the early seasons of the THE X-FILES. Many thanks for your valuable insight.
  12. I really enjoyed the first two episodes this season. What film stocks are you using now that 5229 is no longer available? Speaking to new shows shot on film, there is definitely an agenda to force digital acquisition on everyone, but I see the exception being the producer having enough influence to greenlight a film show. HBO and AMC are the only networks that I know of shooting new TV shows on film.
  13. KONVAS 400ft magazine. $128.00 USD In good shape. Always well maintained. Serviced 10 months ago. I will include 1 free 400ft roll of KODAK VISION3 50D. Factory Sealed and Fresh. I accept payment via PAYPAL. Shipping free in the USA.
  14. KODAK EXR 5248, 5298 and 5245. I would like to order those film stocks. I'd be interested to see what old school cinematographers that like the look of the older film would do, knowing they now have this option. Janus Kaminski could probably get Spielberg to order some of the stuff for their next film.
  15. The 2nd part of the post : This would include the infrastructure for processing, probably at a single lab, either in Rochester NY, or sub-contracted. "On demand" could conceivably include any film that Kodak has ever manufactured. Someone in the audience asked the inevitable question: "Including Kodachrome?" Her answer: "Yes, including Kodachrome". She added that while small runs of Kodachrome were unlikely, it was not out of the question, since they have had numerous inquiries.
  16. Beverly Pasterczyk, a R&D Film chemist spoke at a SMPTE meeting in Los Angeles last week. She has some very interesting things to say regarding possible short runs of just about any modern KODAk motion picture film. This is a repost from another forum : Ms. Pasterczyk is a chemist with film R & D at Kodak, and she mentioned that Kodak Research is currently engaged in the continuing design and implementation of new emulsions, such as the new version of the Vision III product. "Regarding consumer films, she said that they are considering restructuring a new approach aimed at producing these at a reasonable cost in much smaller volumes than in the past. She said that new technology will permit them to continue to produce these in "boutique quantities" using single coating machines rather than the huge multiple coaters of the past. She said that basically, as long as they had sufficient orders for a minimum of a single master roll "54 inches (almost 1-1/2 meters) wide by whatever length - no minimum stated", they would consider examining production in terms of the economics involved. Future production would primarily be on an "on demand" basis."

Ihat is why I showed the KODAK catalog number for print film. He wants to make a print from Super 8 Color negative. There is only one color print film available with 16mm perforations on both sides - KODAK VISION 3383.
