  1. Its a great stock I shot it on Ultra16mm, it handled mixed lighting and overexposure very well I cant really compare it with the older vision 2 7205 because I only shot that once and it was a old recan that was lying under a shelf for at least 2 years? The vision 3 is very fine grain and sharp especially for 16mm
  2. Im getting a 2nd transfer done at cinelicous, so I should know in a week or so? I'll keep you guys posted
  3. Thanks Bernie I'll try that do you know where I could get a new rubber coupling? if thats the problem?
  4. I recently shot on vision 3 250D its a very nice stock, really fined grain. I shot is on ultra16 with an angeniux 12-120 zoom lens it worked great on daylight interiors, but I had to use the stock on a bright sunny afternoon outside and I wished I had a slower stock, like 50d? I put on all the nd filters I could and I had no choice but to close the lens down to t8 which is way to much depth of field than I prefer
  5. Thanks for your help guys I ended up unspooling the last 25 feet and looked at the negative under a light I didnt notice any flickering on the negative. but the flickering only changes by maybe a 1/8 of a stop so there could still be flickering on the negative, just not enough for me to notice on the negative? one thing that makes me think it could be the camera is on every shot the flickering starts to become more apparent as the shots progress. that makes me think it could be a problem with the camera? if it is the camera, could it be the batterie pack I was using to power the camera??
  6. I dont really know what you mean simon? I was shooting under natural daylight, and the eclair NPR has a 180 degree shutter can you please explain to me again in a bit more detail? thanks man:)
  7. Yes I shot at 24 frames about 2 fluctuations a second.
  8. Hey I just shot some 16mm film, I had it transferred at Cinelicious at pro res 422 and for some reason about half way through the footage the image starts to flicker? its goes dark light dark light, very rapidly. could this be a defect in the transfer? or could this be somthing in camera??? any ideas?
  9. Hi The lens Ive been using on my new Ultra16mm camera has been vignetting the lens is a 12-120mm Angeniux zoom lens it seems to vignette on anything wider than 30mm and only when Im focused at 7feet or closer. My question is, is there a way to fix that somehow? when ever I use my c-mount primes they seem to work fine with no vignetting and even with a 10mm prime there is no vignetting, but how come on the Angeniux? any ideas?
  10. I think I noticed those dots too but I was thinking it may of been the projector?
  11. I saw terminator the other night the movie was decent,I thought the cinematography was the best part about the film. Christian Bales performance was very flat and boring. I was a little disappointed because I normally like Christians work but this was his worst performance Ive seen. I thought the lighting was amazing, really good work from Shane Hurlbut theres a scene at the beginning with Christian Bale inside a dark lab underground He strikes a Flare and the screen just burns out white,it looked so cool. what are your thoughts on this film
  12. Thanks Karel to be honest I cant even remember the model of the camera? lol It was a canon it was not the canon 5d mark 2, but I think it is the model before that one? its a funny story we got the camera about 6 hours before the 1st shot And I didnt even know what camera it was going to be before hand, just that the director had a photographer friend who was willing to lend us his camera. We didnt even know if the directors idea was going to work,it was my 1st time doing stop animation as well as the directors lol I was fortunate to get access to some great lenses all canon glass:) your right about film being more sensitive to green spikes I have yet to use the kino flo diva light on film
  13. I used a kino flow diva light for this music video I shot a few months back it was the only light I used 90% of the time, with the occasional bounce I think the light from the diva light is beautiful, I also kept on the diffusion screen that comes with the unit to soften the light even more, I think the color of light and quality was great I used no gels or anything I just kept the camera at its tungsten setting and the lights where tungsten heres the link to the video if you would like to check it out it was all shot on a canon dslr with stop motion and body paint
  14. That looks great Kevin what film did you shoot on? and what lenses? Also where did you gt the film developed? reason I ask is my usual lab doesnt have the proper machine to develop the film, they have a sprocket driven machine, that could damage the film between the perfs So Im probly gonna go to Alphacine in seattle for all my U16 developing
  15. does the developing method have an effect on ultra16mm? I think I read somewhere that you dont want your film developed by a lab that has a sprocket driven machine? Because it can cause damage between the perforations I live in B.C canada and if anyone knows of any good labs that can develop Ultra16mm with no problems can you please give me there contact info I also recently shot a Ultra16mm test, and got it developed at deluxe lab in vancouver, and there was no problems, but they seem very weary of supporting the format,so I would really like to try out a different lab
  16. Oh I cant be leave I forgot to mention Bernie? yes Bernie o'doherty at super16inc did the conversion,he did a great job, best decision we made going with Bernie:) regarding the lenses I used it was mainly our 12-112 angeniuex zoom lens, the 1st out of focus shot is on this lens,as well as the slow motion footage near the end,and the end in the office. I also used a few c-mount primes, also angeniuex, a 10mm 25mm for the frame tests, and 75mm for the close up of Krista. I think my favorite is the zoom lens, it seems sharper than the c-mounts. I recently shot a short film with Ultra16mm, the footage is getting developed as we speak, and Im gonna send it to cineliciuos for the transfer, Im excited to see how it will look,we shot it on Fuji eterna 250t 8653 with the angeniux zoom lens. It might be while before I can post some footage
  17. Hi The film co-op I work at cinevic recently got our eclair NPR converted to Ultra16mm and I shot a test to see if everything worked. The test is really basic,I mainly wanted to see if the new groundglass markings where accurate and to check for vignetting on wide angle lenses Im please to say it works great The film was an old recan or Kodak 7205 that was sitting under a table for about 6-8 months the can was covered in dust hahaha But the film worked, there is a lot of scratching at the begining it was my fault for the scratching,I got the negative back from the lab,and checked it out to see if there was even an image on the film, before we would pay to get it transferred. The transfer was done at Cinelicious in LA transferred at pro res 422 1080p I was really happy with the transfer. Again the test is kind of boring, no music no editing, but people who are interested in ultra16mm should check it out Also we got it it framed for 1.78 I noticed I can kind of see the the perforations in some shots Im guessing if we got in framed for 1.85 you wouldnt see it? anyways Im still happy we got the conversion done ULTRA16MM
  18. Hey has anyone here ever tried out the Dayflo pro 1000 light? dayflo pro 1000w Im looking to purchase a flouresent light fixture, and I came accross this company, and the price seems really good, but I also want good quality, so any feedback about this light would be appreciated thanks
  19. Im looking to purchase some used 4x4 filters for a film co-op I work for on vancouver island B.C Canada. Im mainly looking for tiffen or format glass filters heres a list of filters I would like I obviously dont want cracked or chipped filters, and would appreciate to see some photos of the filters before I consider buying any thanks :) 4x4 1/8 Black Promist 4x4 80a 4x4 85nd3 4x4 polorizor 4x4 nd3 grade 4x4 nd6 grade
  20. whats the iso settings on this camera? can it reach an iso of 1600?
  21. I thought it was the fastest near 3 hour movie Ive ever seen I could of gone for another hour.
  22. really? I thought the movie was great I thought the music choices where good.
  23. Hi I found some film in the fridge at the film co-op I work at Its not in its original can,and all it says on a piece of tape is EXR 50D 7245 60ft unexposed Im about to do some tests with our Ultra 16mm camera and when I was in the change bag I relised the film is double perf? I know EXR 50d is a couple years old, but I didnt relies they still make double perf film? also double perf film is still okay to shoot Ultra 16mm right?
