  1. WOW what a bummer of a story! im sorry to hear about all your trouble. My k3 has been in the closet for quite some time, but i believe you should be able to slightly pull up on those guides to move them out of the way. and what is anti-clockwise? if i remember the pain in my hands and fingers correctly the camera winds clockwise. not counter or anti...(?) keep poking around in that thing. maybe remove the back plate and have a look at the gears that drive it. its really not the most advanced device and you should be able to connect the dots and see whats locked or broken as soon as you remove the back plate! if you have anymore questions ask away. i am a big fan of this camera for the price and its just not fair that yours is giving you so much trouble.
  2. thanks, i am looking into Carbon Coder to see if it will help me on out.
  3. i just took an editing gig using footage from a hard drive shot on a prosumer sony xd cam. i cannot import the footage correctly into my media composer. I have tried rewrapping them as xml files using the sony clip browser, and downloaded the latest version of avid's media composer and still have nothing. I can import the clips but they will not play for more than .2 seconds before and error message pops up. the screen is either green or black in the preview window. the footage was shot at 720/30p at 35mbps. what in gods green earth am i doing wrong. if this is the way of the future I will name my first child betaSP in honor of a format that never gave me any issues! any ideas are greatly appreciated!
  4. right on! thanks for the clues and direction. i will update if i get any news on these guys.
  5. you have pictures of this camera on craigslist right? i wish i was in the market for it!
  6. I have a couple of Kodak films from WWI. I can only find limited info on the internet and nothing similar on ebay, as far as the age or format of these. Is there any interest in this kind of stuff, or is it better off or being donated to the military channel for everyone to check out? The technical stuff: -each reel is about 100' of Kodak Cinegraph safety film -both reels are "Official War Motion Pictures taken under action during the War in France." -one film is " THE ST. MIHIEL DRIVE No. 6502" -the other film is "FLASHES OF ACTION No. 6504" -both are on "KODASCOPE" reels -the format... around 16mm 2 perf?? -the packaging and printing is in excellent shape considering the age (i am guessing that these were released around the time of the battle?? almost pushing 100 years old!!) -upon curious unraveling of about 5' on each roll, both films have a lot of give and do not seem to have spoiled I think these are so cool and I am just curious to know if they are anything sought after, or just a nice center piece to my ever growing personal Kodak display. They were given to me by a family friend the last time I was back home in Rochester. I know they were in the families possession for a long while and am not sure if they are unseen originals that have not seen the light of day in a long long while, or something that was widely reproduced in its day. Anyways, these are pretty wild. Just holding them and unrolling a few feet up to the light to see through a couple of frames gives me such an intense sensation. I am probably just some kind of obsessed weirdo X-Rochestarian, but any info or interest would be appreciated. the pics probably speak louder than my lousy explanation:

  8. hey thanks a lot for the advice! i think you pretty much nailed it! when practicing the other day i had to seat the film by wiggling it back and forth a couple of times. thanks again.
  9. Here is a thought on my K3 issues. This small part moves back and forth. does it need to be in one position or the other to apply proper pressure?
  10. Patrick, thanks for the compliment! and that is the stock Meteor zoom that came standard with the camera. My K3 is an M42 mount version, which I bought thinking I would have the most choices for lenses. Sadly, since I shot most of the game on the glass, im finding out how important a nice wide prime is... Olex, thanks I will look into getting the camera serviced soon! and thanks for the heads up on winding the camera after every take! jack
  11. I just got back my first test rolls i have shot with my K-3. It seems to have issues with bleeding whites, jittering, and vertical hold... some of the time. otherwise things look fantastic. i have included two examples of the footage. looks great kodak 320t looks awful kodak 200t here is some short clips you will probably have to cut and paste, both probably look terrible on the net anyways. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6140828122060187513 this is the messed up footage above http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4270264564108999566 this is the good stuff is this 100% loading/operator error? i did not hear anything weird while shooting, everything sounded fine? ideas? thanks jack
  12. its a nice entry level camera. use it and flip it on ebay.
