  1. Hey guys, just wanted to share our(uFilmhouse) latest music video. We have very creative and hard working friends, so we never miss an opportunity to work with them. Once they started a band we knew making a music video with them would be a great experience. I hope you guys enjoy it. This is Missile's "Fighter" http://www.vimeo.com/20392798
  2. I've watched the first two episode of Walking Dead and there are so many things that I like and don't like about this show. I like the story and how it has been paced so far, but I'm really not liking the dialogue. It sounds so dated. But what I really wanted ask all you fine people here, is what you guys think of the cinematography? So far the production of this show has blown my mind, but I can't over how flat the cinematography looks. I heard they were shooting on 16mm and and I thought that would give this show an awesome feel. But I swear if I didn't know about this show and just stumbled on to it, I would have thought it was a 90s made for tv movie. One of the writers at AVClub.com actually raves about it and so I thought maybe its just me. What do you guys think?
  3. Oops, sorry about that. My friend had turned it on to privacy to upload a newer cut. You should be able to see it now.
  4. YEs! I finally did it today!!! I busted out the kodak zi8 and had some friends walk really slowly down a hallway and then sped it up on final cut. It gives it that weird jitter semi stop motion feel. LOVE IT. I want to do something with it now!!! Thanks for the reply!
  5. I've always loved the Busta Rhymes video for Dangerous and Ive always wondered how they did that semi stop motion effect/look during the chase scenes at the beginning and again down a hall near the end? Did they indeed shoot it like stop motion, which I cant imagine? The only thing i could ever think of was that they shot it all really slow and then speed it up a notch above normal pace. Thoughts? The video in case people need a reminder. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1x4ob_bu...dangerous_music
  6. It had been a while since we had done a short video with a story. So when we were asked if we would be interested in showing some shorts at a local art show, we couldn't think of a better time to make some new shorts. And we had just gotten a slider and crane along with our 7d, we were pretty excited to start filming. http://www.vimeo.com/10035603
  7. My friend and I, uFilmhouse, made 3 short films, in the month of January, trying to have fresh material for a local art show. We made it just in time for the show and now that its over, we thought we would post one online and share it. I hope you guys dig it. They were shot with a canon 7d and cut on final cut. Thanks for you time. http://www.vimeo.com/10035603
  8. THANK YOU MAN! I will totally keep that mind set from now on. We usually just film with what we can get, but i will start holding out and search harder for better locations.
  9. Awesome, thanks for your reply! I'll start hitting the books!! Hope I can come back here in a few years and show yall something good.
  10. Sorry, I like the cinematography in general but I love the colors and use of lighting and atmosphere.
  11. Hi guys. I've doing small video stuff for a few years now and i'm getting comfortable with what I'm doing. The only thing i haven't really been able to get a grasp on is cinematography. I use magic bullet to give my videos their looks, but i would really like to start to understand how i can achieve certain looks. I know you can only get so much out of digital and it will never fully look like film and I can't wait till I get to the point where I can afford to shoot on film. But in the mean time, I'm going to try to achieve the best look possible with what I got. The movie that I drool over and watch constantly just to look at is Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Now I'm hooked on the look of "In the Mood for Love" and really all the movies Wong Kar Wai has done. My question is, how close can I come to that look with my canon 7d http://www.vimeo.com/9402001 <-(fun day to shoot in Dallas) We have a variety of lenses and just got a generic anamorphic adapter which i'm loving. We also have a small 3 piece light kit. Thanks for your time.
  12. I say having no dialogue would help. If everything can be told with motions. But thats just my thought.
  13. Yeah im right there with ya. I believe children of men was one of the better movies and should have gotten more nods
  14. The trailer for this movie is up. Just wondering what you guys think about the look. It is suppose to be in honor of the 70s exploitation film. I think Robert Rodriguez shot his movie in hd and Tarantino went with film. This might hurt your eyes, i dont know. http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/grindhouse.html
  15. I usually kick myself when I miss such beautifully shot movie on the big screen. So I was happy to actually catch this in theaters. What wasnt good was that I was the only one there. No joke, seriously the only one. This movie was great and I wish I wasnt so broke so that I could buy it now.
  16. What do you guys make of The Zodiac by David Fincher. It was filmed with the Viper and cut with final cut. http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/zodiac/
  17. Ok this may be a dumb question, but the band leader would like to know if there is a way for me to process the film myself. How much would that run them and what all is need for this process? This gig really doesnt pay anything other then experience and im more then ok with that.
  18. Thank you so much for the reply. Super helpful!
  19. Alright, first i got to say, I love this site. Ive learned so much just going thru all the old forums. Anyways, I am putting together a dcumentary for this band, and they are wanting me to make half of the movie on super 8. Now im a digital guy myself, and I have never done film. I would love to learn the whole process, since i do believe that I would later in the future prefer making short films with actual film. I told them I dont know film but im willing to learn. They replied with saying that they would pay for most if not all the equipment. Now really they dont have much money since they laid down so much on their studio already. I told them it could get pretty expensive. Now I'm asking for a rough estimate of how much it would cost in the end to have developed then transferred to be edited on computer then back to film. I don't even know the order. Please correct me on the steps I am missing. I think this a great opportunity to learn a bit of the process of film. They are totally cool with me figuring out what I need to figure out to make this possible. If there are books you think i should pick up please list them. If I am way over my head and think I should be shot, please tell me. thanks in advance
  20. Oh yeah i loved how they made that movie. The fire extinguisher scene was done with FX. The top half was real but they cut out the bottom half later to be added with computers so they could make it look like there was real contact. And they say cgi is ruining movies. HA! Yeah i remember watching that movie for the first time and noticing the camera going in and out of cabs like nothing and they never cut away. You should def buy it and check out the behind the scenes.
  21. YES!!! I too love watching this film just for the beautiful shots. The story isnt bad either. Anyone else seen this movie and want to comment on it?
