    Digibeta deck

I have dealt with dvcam and minidv decks as well as Beta decks for editing my footage. What type of deck is needed to play digibeta?
  3. The more I learn about different formats the more I hear discussion about "drop-out". Could someone explain what this means?

  6. I was thinking digibeta. Would I just make a digibeta master, and sp copies? Or do I make copies on digi? Is that a format that festivals accept? I know that most broadcasters around here take digi.
  7. Im am finishing up a project I shot on reg 16mm, transfered and edited on dv cam. The film is nearly finished editing on fcp4. When I am done, what is the best format to output to for festival or broadcast? Beta sp? How can I make sure I keep the quality from dropping as I output? As well I will be making dvd's with Studio pro. Any recomendations for high quality dvd making?
  8. No suggestions, though many good ones have appeared. Just wanted to thank Mr. Tyler for the most informative site around. Merry Christmas everybody.

  12. Super 16 film is just single perf reg 16. Does your super 16 cam take daylight spools? As well, not all filmstock comes on spools. You may have to buy a larger quantity and spool it yourself. Thast pretty easy to do. Jason
  13. I am looking for a pricelist of Kodaks 35mm stocks. I can't seem to find one online. Anyone know where to look? I didnt see prices on the Kodak website. Jason Arsenault
  14. I SHOT A BIT OF ARIAL ON 16MM. I THINK YOU WILL WANT TO SHOOT AT A FASTER FRAME RATE, SLOWING THE IMAGE DOWN. yOU WILL BE GOING QUITE FAST AND SMALL PLANES BOUNCE A LOT. WHEN THE PLANE SHAKES, YOU WILL NOTICE THIS MORE IF YOU SHOOT AT A LOWER FRAME RATE. AS WELL, ORGANIZATION AND SOMEONE TO ASSIST YOU WITH HANDING YOU SUPPPLIES IS A MUST. jASON
  15. Thanks. I do now have a full list of government sponsored production companies. What about equipment? Anyone know anything about that? Jason
  16. Has anyone ever produced a film in China? What are some of the problems expected? Do you know of any production companies, equipment facilities, and Unions that I could or should contact? Jason Arsenault
  17. Does anyone know anything about this cam? "Panasonic dvc af d 700". Im seeing it on an equipment list of a production house. Just wondering general capabilities and quality. Is it worth using? Jason Arsenault
  18. I suppose you could always contact a station such as PBS, and pitch your idea to them. If they truly enjoy it maybe they could help you get it to the format they need. As well, maybe they can tell you they're preference. Jason
  19. Im thinking about some of those questions myself. I am finishing up a Doc on DVcam. What are you hoping to do with it? Television or theatrical? I don't think there would be much point going to film if your plans were television. But again, im not quite sure as I am asking myself these questions as well. Jason Arsenault
  20. Just wondering what it is that makes something " Broadcast quality". Coul d something be shot on minidv or dv cam and be broadcast quality? Or would you have to transfer it to another format? In doing so do you lose much quality if your original copy was dvcam or minidv? Jason

    LOADING 16mm

Find the manual, or a book which shows how to load it. Once you know exactly how to do it, practice with an exposed piece of film. That way you can take a look to see if you did it corectly. Jason
