  1. Hello Forgive me if i'm being pretty stupid, but i can visualise this. How does it differ if you shoot at say 12fps then telecine and transfer at 12fps when compared with when you shoot at 12fps and transfer at 24fps? what is the difference? thanks
  2. Forgive me but, i am unfamiliar with the term "lazy susan", could you guys please elaborate? Thanks
  3. so is it right that you canot shoot all your non-sound sync shots at 60fps and decide later what speeds to play them back at? The motion will look different between the speeds?
  4. Some of you may be familiar with the colour aberration caused by the P+S Technik Pro35 and film lenses on any video camera. With the Varicam, removing this unwanted colour is fairly straightforward to get an acceptable compromise. With Sony's 900r, it seems much more difficult to correct. Currently i use a light box, verctorscope and a good monitor. I use page 14, vertical modulation and adjust the red and green to balance the colour cast. I am finding it not ideal and cannot get it as good as the Varicams automatic function. Does anyone else have experience with this? How do you correct the colour aberration on the HDW-900r? Any thoughts welcome Thanks
  5. When shooting s16mm with SK's, 18mm and under will cut in on a 4" Matte Box, such as the MB16. In this situation you'll need a 6" Matte Box. Either the MB14 or the light weight shade LMB-4.

  7. This is a technique that I have seen many times recently and I too have been wondering how it is done. One great example is from Justine Timberlake's recent video 'my love' http://www.ifilm.com/video/2779867 At 5' 20" the camera begins to roam freely, from a high angle the camera swoops downs and passes under his feet. How is this done? Is it motion controlled? Thanks
  8. Thanks guys for your knowledge, i understand a little more now, and you have given me some good points to further my learnings. I may be back! Thanks
  9. Could you please expand on this statement, i'm still a novice about lenses and their construction. How can one tell spherical lenses are used by studying the bokeh it produces? thanks
  10. you can always call up a good local rental house and ask if they can give you the dimentions, or if you can go in and measure them yourself. just a thought
  11. Hello I work at a rental house in West London, we have a Arri Time Shift Box. Recently it has become very popular with several dramas and music promo productions taking interest in it. I fully understand the concept of this tool, but I have heard very little about crews/productions experiences with it and I still have not seen any 'real' examples of how this effect can be utilised. Could anyone please discuss their experiences with the above, or does anyone have any example movies online of this effect in practice? Nice One
