  1. HI i think nobody care about mixing aspect ratios in a demo reel. its like mixing video and film for a movie! if the movie is fine nobody care of the mixture. bye! Treegan
  2. Hi! i try this fx you want with my k3 running at 5-6 fps, 1.9f and compensate the light with ND filters. dont know why really but in f1.9 the effect is more notorius. after that if you want to have more motion blur you need to look for motion blur in the motion palet of the clip... in the canvas (in fcp). if its not enough for you look for a real motion blur effects for final or after. bye! 3. Hi! ok we have colour now! we have color finesse too (i like it a lot). the problem is that nobody tell the guys out there that in a laptop or a mac monitor youre not gonna see real colors unless you have a video card (like cinewave, aja kona etc) connected to a real monitor (not a tv) bye! 4. Hi John! youre asking about : Is the SR-2 an early or late SR-2? you mean between sr-sr2 or sr2 to sr3 or what? i think that if you mail the serial number to arri they coukd told you the production year so you have an idea of the age of the camera. bye! Treegan
  5. Hi David! Luisa in another post is asking about toning the film in the print, thats why i think he want a color print when his 16mm original is b&w. i start thinking about this and i have a question. if i paint the negative and then print it to have a projection positive. i need to "paint negative" so when i have the positive print the colour is ok? ex: if i paint blue in the negative in the positve goes yellow? bye!! 6. Hi Luisa! if i understan well youre gonna paint the negative? or wanna add color grading when printing? around 1904 Porter (the grate train robbery) research a system to add colour to the film called "pochoir", the result were good but the color dont have long life in this films. http://library.ucsc.edu/oac/exhibits/trianon/cp.htm if youre thinking in grading at the print just think that this colour adding can be done and workslise a telecine window. hope the link helps. bye!! 7. Hi!!! you can do this easily in a telecine. if not... cose youre not going into telecine.... dont try to do in FCP. try with shake is the best soft in low price that can do that in a pro way, or discreet combustion is good choice too. to have good result youre going to work in a combination of rotoshape and destaurate.... maybe keying as well. painting the ball is funny idea (green) but have to be carefull if the ball is close to the floor or to a iluminated wall cose the green will give you a green shadow and the key will take this out too so youre going to have a new prblem there. how long will be this work? rotoshape all!!! is the best way and will have better results!! bye! 8. Hi guys!! i just wanna show you my new K3 with modifications made by Olex K (geocities.com/russiancamera) the k3 have a hot shoe to synch the fps with a flash and second the frame by frame socket was changed to have long time exposure. if you have the cable trigger pressed the shutter will be open until you release the trigger. im posting some pics. bye!! 9. Hi!! i recomend to do the down convertion in after effects or shake. if can not do that export a final movie in uncompresses 10 bit, is gonna be 720x486 and then import in dvd studio pro and compress in 2vbr at 6.5 quiality. when playind dv mocies in quicktime the quality is really but don know why. theres a soft called hi-qual (freeware) the solves this problem. bye!!! 10. Hi!! if you digitize in full resolution the Standard Definition is 1.2 megas per frame so do math. dvBox i think is a good choice for hard disk. bye!! Treegan
  11. Hi Michael!! sometimes the after effects quit unexpectly when is rendering a heavy effects like paints or stuff like this. i recomend to render in pieces. maybe is a good idea to re install the after effects and be carefull to delet all the after effects files, crash logs. if you can find the crash log here said why the after effects quit, in which frame and in which layer of the render process. what is you cut soft? even final cut or avid in a good workstations slow down when have a lot of footage. if its final cut try to put the playback option and frame rate to dynamic not full resolution, just to work and when you export the final movie go to full quality and let the computer work. export in sequences is agood idea too. i hope it helps you. bye!!! 13. Hi!! ebay is one of the best places to buy super 8 cameras. i thing you should look for a 1014canon, a beaulieu (maybe 2008s is the cheapest) or of want some more cheap but a good camera go for a quartz zenit. bye!!! Treegan
  14. Hi!! i have several pathe baby 9.5mm rolls, around 20 and i wanna transfer them to digital media. anybody know where i can do that? or... can i mount the film in 8mm cores and telecine them in a davinci? bye an thanx! General Treegan Mexico City
  15. hi! is better to have the hard disk connected with firewire cose is the standar data transfer rate to work with dv codec. if youre using a hi8 or a low budget mini dv sometimes the TC of them dont work correctly so try capturion on the fly. in the device control preset, where says firewire ntsc or pal put non controlable device. this way you can work better. bye!! 20. Why you wanna destroy your footage in heavy compression? HDV not rules! and is not possibly at this time, hdv decks only reproduce hdv but cant master in hdv format. if you want hd remeber that youre gonna loss the up and down sector of image to fit in 16.9 and the zooming to fit in HD will be too much for the size of negative. bye!! Treegan
  21. Hi Adam! theres a place in london called the wide screen center http://www.widescreen-centre.co.uk/ maybe they process or know a lab for processing kodachrome in europe. i recomend to call to the widescreen cose they never reply the emails. bye!! 24. Hi!! what i mean with calculus is render time in a pc or mac or whatever. imagen a digital zoom in in a 1920x1080 72 dpi the time of render for a 10 seconds of clip would be 5minutes (for ex) in 1920x1080 300dpi the render time would be around 10 that is what i mean. bye! Treegan
  25. Hi!! if you dont want grain shoot video or 16 as the other guys tell you. if youre still interested in S8 and want to reduce grain the best way is in telecine. if not, dont use final cut to reduce grain, final cut filters generally sucks. boris have a grain reducer in FCP but it only blur the image an add digital noise. try film fix, it works ok in after effects. i think its around 500usd if wanna buy. bye!!
