  2. Please look at the forums before posting, this has been discussed about a billion times before on this forum http://www.cinematography.com/forum2004/in...showtopic=26706 Sean
  3. I totally agree with Richard on this one, yep that's the way it works. unfair as it is.. Cheers Sean
  4. Hi Frederico, I might have some lenses I can sell you, are you after std speed or the faster ones? Cheers Sean Morris SYD/AUST
  5. Hi Clive, Does your 16mm telecine do neg? Cheers Sean
  6. Les Bosher converted my Kinor 16 to S16, also you could try Bruce at Aranda, great guy, awesome work Cheers Sean
  7. <_< I don't know any cameras kicking around these days with tubes all the cameras listed above are CCD, tubes would be sold on Ebay as junk, nevermind how hard it would be for spares etc. The BVW would be the choice in my opinion, if in decent condition heads - lens etc, the UVW100 is a cheap betacam rig ( a poor mans betacam) 1/2 CCD's etc and generally features a cheap lens too. Cheers Sean
  8. James, :D Bruce has updated my Kinor to the new 5000 electronics, and has also Hardfronted a ARRI IIC for me, fixed a Konvas, machined a new OCT mount, resprayed, re-furbished my Kinor etc..and many, many more small & large fiddly and complex jobs. I can tell you this, Bruce McNaughton's - (Aranda's Group) workmanship is of the highest caliber A+++, you cannot fault it, honestly, it is truly a pleasure to do business with people that clearly take great pride in their work, Bruce McNaughton's - (Aranda's Group) is of one of them. 9. Hi, I started off with a trusty DXC-3000P with a clunker SP umatic deck, and then upgraded to a BVP-7 with a BVV-1!!!!!.... sold that, moved on to two 1657D FIT Thomson Digital 16X9 Heads (french cams) with SP BVV-5 Backs, also a Sony UVW100P I picked up cheap. Also an ARRI IIC Hardfronted, Konvas 2M, Kinor Super16, and a mod'ed Kinor 35. Cheers Sean
  10. Hi, The BVW camera series "was / is" a workhorse camera, I would get you camera looked at by a good betacam tech, alot of the camera's around this vintage start to need new caps after a while, boards start to go screwy. Apart from this, well tuned rigs produce excellent pictures. Let's hope you dont need a full head (drum) replacement, ouch now thats expensive. Cheers Sean Morris

Hi, A good read for information on 16mm cameras is "The 16mm Camera Book" by Douglas Underdahl, an excellent source of information on the ARRI S, BL, M, SR, Aatons etc.. and alot of extra info on testing, cleaning, lenses, filters, lightmeters etc..well worth the money :D Cheers Sean Morris
  13. Hi Richard, I was too.. at one stage thinking of going PL mount for my Konvas, but I spent way too much on buying lomo lenses and the cost of converting my fav ones to PL mount would of been too high. I didn't like the original Konvas lens mount on my camera, it was way too sloppy, so I sent the camera to Bruce at Aranda Film in Melbourne for a stainless steel mount and a new paint job, later I had the idea of a handle which I asked Bruce to make, he did an excellent job with everything!.. Cheers Sean Morris
  14. Cheers, Never used one so I can't really comment, Your Kinor lens is a much better choice than the coke bottle lens the K3 usually comes with, I also did use a lot of pentax lenses (Super Takumar) when I had the K3 and the results were stunning, super sharp in telecine . Cheers Sean
  15. From aroundabout 50mm up, :( but it is a nice lens Cheers Sean Morris
  16. Hi, Updating the Kinor to S16 PL mount etc..is a very smart investment, also having a PL mount makes it easy to find lenses etc.. plus the original Kinor mount is let's say fair, not that great. A friend of mine had his Kinor speed modified with Olexandr and a service, the camera now purrs, its soo damn quiet, Its a very simple camera to load as well, nothing like the konvas! Attached is the Les Bosher Conversion. Cheers Sean Morris
  17. Hi Kev, I have shot many rolls of fuji and kodak on my Konvas 2M with no troubles, as long as your camera & mag's work correctly, you wont have any troubles. Cheers Sean Morris
  18. Hi, Does anyone know where I can get a replacement "rubber eyecup" for a ARRI IIC, mine is crumbling to bits. any online stores, other than Ebay? Cheers Sean Morris
  19. The Kinor 35H also has a problem with the internal viewfinder optics, they corrode and need resilvering or replacing. Mitch is right about the electronics as well they are usually dodgy, and need replacing at some stage. Cheers Sean
  20. The Konvases works fine with Western film no problems, most of the Kinors 35's on Ebay for sale etc.. have already been converted to run fine with Western film, Just remember alot of these Russian Cameras have been knocked about, screws missing from the body etc..so a general service is always recommended Cheers Sean
  21. Hey Joseph, Agree totally, I really loved the last film on the DVD (Cut). I find most Korean Films are very visually stunning. I would of loved to viewed "Three Extremes "in a decent cinema. Cheers Sean
