  1. Just got off the phone with Bernie fom Super16.com. You know the one who fixes cameras featured in the Jan 2007 issue of Super 8 today. I asked several questions and the answer in his experience kept coming back to Beaulieu's with a german lens. I asked him which model and he said any one is fine. Well what do you all say. Which model do you like and what lens do you feel is the best in terms of resolving power and color reproduction. As much as he did not want to admit it he said the french angenieux was not as good as the Schneiders.
  2. I got an idea for a summer camp venture. I'll give the teen 5 loaded cameras to do what they want with one roll after 30 minutes of instruction. then develop it and show all 5 rolls in a drive in like format showing. My question is if you were purchasing 5 cameras, which lower end cameras would you buy?
  3. I owned one and did tests with it and found that kodachrome cart. stability were improved up to 50% in both the Elmo 1012xls and nikon R-10.
  4. Robert, It seems that many are already sweating over people like Santos and others wanting to eeek out that .01 additional quality. See previous posts on this forum. I believe that if less stable footage is desired, then fine. But I like super-8 and I like stable images. What's my crime?
  5. So what have we learned about super-8 image stability? 1.) Use a Kodak cartridge with a metal inserted pressure plate. 2.) Use a Leicina Camera... any other candidates? 3.) Use a double super 8 camera with a built in metal pressure plate. 4.) Use single 8 shot with a Fuji ZC1000 with a built in metal pressure plate 5.) Use imaging stabilization software 6.) Shoot 16mm with pin registration Any thoughts?
  6. Any word on Spectra or kodak selling this film?

  8. So sorry for the missunderstanding. I got the 100T and the 100D confused. Unconfused now. However does pro8mm sell a 100D? Does anyone have full confirmation that the film is old? What is considered old?
  9. Any word on the 100T from Spectra? Also if Spectra has 100T and Pro8mm has 100T. And if Pro8mm sells for $5 less a roll, do you see any reason to wait on Spectra?
  10. What modifications are there you refer to by the Italian fellow. Also do you mean 2 blade shutter instead of the 3 that allows in 30% more light?
  11. When you say the sound system is new. Do you mean modified new or just replaced the same components recently without any upgrade?
  12. What if you were to make a full length feature and build a mini theatre to run it and advertise it as the cheapest movie ever made, exclusive at your theatre.
  13. How about doing the festivals? Any money there?
  14. Been thinking how to maximize the income potential of Super-8. How can we create an assett with this medium? Is it possible? To what end? I'd like to explore the avenues I know of and the many you know of as well and to see if the collective reasoning here can come up with anymore possibilities. Before we begin an open brainstorming session on this topic let's make sure we agree that no idea is stupid. Let's just get it all on the table before we analyze any. 1.) Being at the right place and the right time recording an event like the JFK assassination. 2.) Create a film like Jet Benny or Vampire in Burbank and sell DVD's. 3.) I remember seeing Vampire in Burbank at our local Video rental place. Don't know if its viable anylonger but at one time a super-8 film could be sold to video stores.
  15. I've run into this before on other forums and I know I come off in a way that most of you may roll your eyes and perhaps call me a fundementalist or a mentalist. But hear me out. I don't believe for a second that with a your living room full of your guests including children that you'd be looked at as some sort of hero with the language you are proudly and arrogantly displaying hear as exemplitory. If you feel I'm wrong, go pollute your own home and see the results before you come here and make it an "R" rated public site. Be a man, think of the young before yourself. Thank you.

    Flo lights

What do you guys think of these? http://206.188.208.159/index.asp?PageActio...D&ProdID=37
  17. They say that profanity is a crutch for the inarticulate. I dissagree.

  19. Really enjoyed this thread, learned alot. Long live the misunderstood Phantom of the "8"...santo.
  20. Now that is a kodachrome is a moot point I have to agree. The last and best I shot was in 1997/8 everything after that was grainer and softer. I used the same cartridge in both an R-10 and 1012XL-S with and without a pressure plate and got slightly soft and grainy results from both cameras and 10-14 rolls of Kodachrome. This was in 2004.
  21. Has anyone here personally had experience with the Max8 Beaulieu refurbished Beaulieu cameras? Are they even close to worth the $3500 retail? Anyone know to what extent they go through them? Modifications, modernizations? Is Max8 any different than SuperDuper8 (oh that hurts everytime I say or write it)?
  22. Hey Sam could you keep from expressing your thoughts in this manner. Could the webmaster please remove or edit this please. Our children or Grandchildren might want to visit this site. Thanks.
  23. Can you give us some specifics on the lens. I've tried to find it on the net without success. Keep up the good work.

    100D

Is it available in the US yet?
  25. Would you please give us the web site so we can check it out in two weeks. Super-8 to 35mm in high quality without appologies? Where's santo when we need him to explain this all to us???? Don't we like to settle on poor quality images? What gives, that someone would actually invest in the format? Will this kill super-8? Will we be calling this new way of handeling the format super-9? We need to stop this before it gets too far and people get super-8 confused with 16mm. Come on let's question this guy as to why he is not using 16mm if he is going through all this trouble so he will second guess himself and stop this path of unrighteousness. Super-8 is just an amature format and that's all, right? Oh the madness. ps: You go man, I love that you are taking super-8 to new heights!!!!!!
