  1. Read the eighth post down: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?...t=final+cut+pro Hope it helps.
  2. Canon Scoopic (original model) 16mm film camera in great used condition. Camera and internal light meter work great, has great glass--no scratches or cleaning marks-- and the inside is immaculate. Camera also comes with a new Bescor SLM-5XLRATM battery pack with auto charger which will last for many, many 100' loads. Camera also includes the very, very rare external battery pack that holds two Scoopic cells of which I had the cable split and had both ends converted to interface with the XLR out from the Bescor battery and the proprietary Canon mount on the Scoopic. The work for the cable conversion was done at Du-All camera in New York and as usual, they did a wonderful job. Also included are two daylight take up spools. I'm sorry to see it go, but it will do a beginner a great deal of good. Asking price is $500. e-mail me with questions and/or for pics at timothy.a.brown@gmail.com
  3. I have experienced problems using Safari as well. My problem however is that Safari completely quits after four or five page views. No error or explanation... just quits. David, you might want to try Mozilla's Firefox. It's faster than Safari and I've not experienced any compatibility problems while using it.
  4. I've bought new and used from B&H and have had nothing but great experiences with those guys. The 5000 is a tremendous value -- 1/2 inch specs at 1/4 inch prices.
  5. Hello Tom, I've worked with both the 500 and the 5000 from JVC and each are good cameras with the 5000 getting the nod as it is an update to the 500. If $3,500 is indeed the price from B&H on a used 5000 with the 14x lens, then that is a tremendous value. The JVC will give you better depth of field as well as better low-light performance over the DVX - own one of these as well - but I'm not certain with regards to comparing low-light performance with the Sony FX-1. I would assume with as many pixels as it has that the JVC would out perform this cam in low-light as well. My advice would be to buy what you can afford and what would have a decent resale value and the 5000 seems to be a great bargain. Are you using an older version of FCP? The latest version has support for HDV so that shouldn't deter you from shooting in HDV. Some people believe that down-converted HDV has more saturation and better contrast than SD originated material going to DVD, but from my personal experience I have not known this to be true.
  6. I make three. I'll keep an eye out and if I find anything I'll report back as well. I'm sure there are plenty of places that are willing to do it for a fee if we don't find the answers we're looking for. Does anyone know who's worth it? I've had work done by Du-All so I'm leaning toward them. Any other suggestions? Tim
  7. Check here http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=16. Lots of goods change hands here and I've sold wares here as well so I can vouch for it. -Tim
  8. I'm also thinking that we could conceivably chop all space requirements in half if we could get a post house to digitize the footage using BitJazzs SheerVideo codec. Theoretically making it possible to use FW800 drives for some projects.
  9. A place that I often go to check market prices is the used listings at B&H photos site. I have found their prices to be around what you would expect to get depending upon your items condition. If you're looking for a place to sell your goods try the classified section at http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/index.php?s=. Always full of newcomers looking for deals on used Canon and Sony video equipment. -Tim
  10. How about Bono Film and Video in Arlington Virginia-http://www.bonofilm.com/home.asp. Have not used them yet, but they seem to have fair pricing. Tim
