  1. Dear John, Is only the lights values are producing these blue tint in the color print? Will others factors like developing, and temperature can affect them? One more doubt, I have printed a negative with slight bluish tint in it, while projecting it is looked totally like a perfect B/W print from a B/W print films. What is the reason? L.K.Keerthibasu
  2. If you really want to play with the contrast try to shoot with PRINT films and SOUND negative. I have shot some with them ,they are really contrast. I have exposed sound negative 2378E the lighting was very critical. Mostly I exposed that in the daylight. L.K.Keerthibasu
  3. Dear John, Sure Iam using only the certified SVHS tapes for recording. Yes,only the electronic circuits are making the problem. We had found it and after that we have shooted only in the early morning and evening for the exteriors. Thanks to all, L.K.Keerthibasu
  4. Dear David, Iam shooting this Music Video in SVHS. We are having the problem like the images are all in total greenish but this is not happend before. we checked that whether there is a problem in the sensor but they are good in the interior. It is realy supprising to all of us. Then we found that this only because of the heat. Is this happened before to any user here. L.K.Keerthibasu.
  5. Dear David, I am going to shoot a music video next week. It is very hot here due to summer and my friends are advicing me not to shoot in this high temperature, because this hot temperature will lead to color miss match. Most of the shots are in exterior daylight. Is that true, what are the precautions to be taken while shooting. Iam awaiting for the reply. L.K.Keerthibasu
  6. Dear friend, Iam from Film and T.V Institute of Tamilnadu, why don't you try in our institution? What made you to find other film institutes then this one? I will provide you Informations regarding our institution If you please. I think that you know about our institution which is one of the outstanding film institute in India., Iam very much proud to say that. L.K.Keerthibasu
  7. Dear friend, As others told, color films contain color couplers which are reponsible for the reproduction of color in film. So the color temperature and conversion filters are needed for the balancing for particular emulsion. When it is a black and white emulsion only picture negative and some sound negatives are panchromatic so that they are sensitive to all colors of the visible spectrum. The sensitivity of the any black and white emulsion is extended by the addtion of sensitisers to the silver halides. So there is no need to put a conversion filters for the black and white emulsions. Color temperature does not play a vital role in the B/W photography. But filters like RED, YELLOW AND ORANGE will increase darkness in the SKY and look very dramatic this reproduction depend upon the density of the filter used. http://www.wolfes.com/photo/filters/B&W.html http://www.ephotozine.com/techniques/viewt...e.cfm?recid=284 L.K.Keerthibasu
  8. Dear friend, The best time to shoot the closeups in day light is between 8:00 to 10:30 in the morning and 3:00 to 5:30 in the evening because during this time we will get angular and glory sunshine. Best is to diffuse this light so it look we soft to the close ups. I always use this time to shoot on day light. If to shoot very warm close ups shoot early morning and after 5 with bounce card as fill. L.K.Keerthibasu
  9. What is the temperature withstanding capacity of the Kodak motion picture films?I read that if there is a change in temperature it will increase the graininess, I like to know which extend. L.K.Keerthibasu

  12. Dear friends, We have a total of 6 cans of FUJI 8572 500T stock for developing. The problem is the remjet backing is not removing properly because the stock is old and I think the storage is also poor. So we once again planned to rewash the film only in the prebath, wash and finally dry. Still the remjet was not properly removed what shall we do now. We have also tried to clean the negative with the CTC but it is really a paining job for 6 cans. Please reply for the best result because we are just students are processing these films in our institution LAB. L.K.Keerthibasu
  13. Dear Manikandan, I think that you are from tamilnadu. The best book to refer about the film layer and other technical informaions on film please go through " Motion Picture Film Processing " by Dominic Case L.K.Keerthibasu
  14. Dear John, Please more details about the DIR and DIAR dyes and how they differ from each other? Also explain about what is their part in the image in sharpness? L.K.Keerthibasu
  15. Since it is a negative there are chances for fog. Go for the fog test if you think it is worth to do it because 400feet of negative is really expensive then a simple test. L.K.Keerthibasu
  16. It is appreciated to learn as a student but not as a professional. I think that you know the importance of the negative. As others said 16mm negative cutting is really a headache, only experience professionals are recommended for this work. L.K.Keerthibasu
  17. Dear Friends, The whole story of this film is happening in a COLD region, with very chill climate and form of mist. Due to budget the producer has decided to shoot the 50% percent of the film in the actual COLD location and the 50% percent of the feature is place which is actually very HOT region and the weather and the temperature is not matching well. What we should do now it is very critical to make it ? We dont have a problem of snow fall but it was full of mist. We have planned to shoot with the smoke effect for the mist but still it is not matching. Whether we have to put some filters to bring down to that color temperature. Thank you, L.K.Keerthibasu
  18. I think that Iam posting a silly question, is it possible to shoot UV in digital video. L.K.Keerthibasu
  19. In my institution we dont even have a CT and digital cameras. We students had found a alternation for this, by using our SVHS in our TV dept. I think that we are approximate to the actual CT of the light but it is a good referance for us. Try if possible. L.K.Keerthibasu
  20. Dear Sreenivas, There are lot of information about bleach bypass which were discussed earlier. Please find the threads in the previous forums, go to search in the top of this page and find the information you wanted L.K.Keerthibasu
  21. I have heard that some DPs always go for one particular stock because they have experinced with that stock and very easy for them to bring their desired look for a particular movie. It takes much experience to study completely about one particular stock I think. L.K.Keerthibasu
  22. Dear Friends, I found many DPs where members in this website and it is a healthy advantage to the students like me and others in this site. This advantage makes us to learn a lot theoritical and practical application in their spots. You all where real teachers. From this we are eager to learn about your favourite stock which you always prefer to work with it when ever you need it. Tell us about the great advantage of that particular stock and why you prefer to use that offen? I think there must be a particular favourite stock to each and every DP L.K.Keerthibasu
  23. Dear John, Is there any possiblities to get the old ECN1 processing formulae and processing steps It will be use full to find the results. L.K.Keerthibasu
  24. Thank you selinsky, What Iam actually looking for is I have heard about the ECN1 process like it is a cold process and we have to develop it for 7-9 minutes but I have not worked with it . I not even know about the formula and the processing steps. Since the ECN2 is a hot process we have to develop the film for 41 degree celsius. so what will be the negative when we process a vision stock in ECN1. L.K.Keerthibasu
  25. Dear friends, Please tell about ECN1 processing steps and what will be the effect when we process the latest vision 2 stocks in this processing methods is it recommended. L.K.Keerthibasu
