  1. Possibly because his film has drowned in it's own technicalities and cannot bring the story back, or take it further.
  2. If James Cameron says it then it must be true. He is the Creator of Abater, not a typo, which means to reduce in amount, degree, or intensity; lessen. Avatar. To reduce in amount, degree, or intensity; lessen.
  3. I come from a 3D background. Lighting in real life is much easier then animation because you can adjust the lighting with no drawback. In animation, however, you have to wait for for rendering and if you get something wrong you have to change it with the lighting rendering again. They have people dedicated to lighting different scenes. In real life you just light it and readjust it. No waiting for anything. Good luck Andy. You're going to need it.
  4. Well David, I was brought up in a different culture where hiding the truth is frowned upon. Unlike the west which is more tolerant towards works that go uncredited. I read articles that stated Natalie trained for 1 year to portray her part accurately which gave the impression she did almost everything. To me that is dishonest information from producers to fix her up with an Oscar. Without that lady, Natalie would not have won an Oscar because she would not have been able to do 95% of it. Now, had they mentioned that she did 5% of stunts and equally credited the other lady from the beginning then I would have accepted most of what you have said.
  5. We are not debating the story of fact nor fiction. It does matter how much dancing she did because if it's 5% then she should not have won the Oscar because then they believe she did it all her self from 1 year of training. That is very close plagiarism. Technically Tom Hanks cannot go into space. That view of argument does not work. If he likes to get drunk then it would help his role as a dedicated drunk actor. I am sure he would like to have sex with her, that's dedication, but unfortunately he cannot. Seriously, if you are going to defend dishonesty at least make strong claims.
  6. Well, hold on a second David. Actors have to play those who cannot for some reason play them selves because they are dead or do not want to. That is a huge difference.
  7. I have seen more then a 1000 documentaries and I know how they work piece by piece. I was a documentary director in the Caribbean for 1 year working for the Government. The documentaries I have seen in my life have a very high standard. This BBC one just looks like any other hand held one. Nothing different. @Peter Moretti Off topic but how are the Oscars voted? I was told 3 years ago that a group of anonymous people vote on each film. Sometimes they get to watch 4 films a day which can be tiring. I don't know if that's the case any longer.
  8. You should see me dance. @John Sprung I am not surprised. When the producers tell someone to keep their mouth shut so they can fix an Oscar for Portman, you know they do not know or care for the work of others.
  9. @Brian Rose I completely agree with you. @Brian Drysdale I was meaning to watch that BBC programme but it just looks like any other programme. Boring.
  10. If you want to get it exactly like that then you need to convert the video clip into a .gif and import it into photoshop. Then you are limitless if you know how to use photoshop.
  11. One of the worst films ever made. I saw the trailer. I am beginning to think directors have to sleep with people to get the job.
  12. This is why I say that everyone needs to work in every industry for one week so as not to discriminate against other people's professions.
  13. I knew that film was too good to be true. I really did not enjoy it and had hoped they do not win anything because it was a stupid story and a stupid cinematography. Source
  14. A book about film stock and cinematography. It was posted here a while back and people were raving about it. I am not sure if it's Kodak's "Cinematographer's Field Guide" but it was definitely written by Kodak.
  15. I saw the ARRIFLEX 435 Xtreme and it is extremely loud when it goes to 150 fps. No dialogue can be recorded if it is operating at that speed. I have read that vfx crews like to work with certain cameras because it makes their job easier and quicker. You know so much David. I hope you are able to finish the FAQ section. I am hungry for film cinematography but cannot afford school.
  16. Transformers 2 was a bad film. True Grit was a great film. Bad film bores you. Good film entertains you. Great film moves you.
  17. @John Thanks for the explanation. @Daniel It would have been a waste of money because the film did not deliver. Using all those cameras to get the right shot and the right scene then the film fails is a waste.
  18. I have a lot to learn. If the film does not deliver then it will have been a waste to use so many cameras. Thanks David. **EDIT** When you say sync-sound camera do you mean they recorded the audio from an external mic into the camera? I thought the audio should always be recorded separately.
  19. I can understand that they wanted different angles but to have five different cameras, five different formats and combine it into one, why? Arricam LT, Zeiss Master Prime Lenses Arriflex 16 SR3, Zeiss Master Prime Lenses Arriflex 235, Zeiss Master Prime Lenses Arriflex 435, Zeiss Master Prime Lenses Arriflex 765, Zeiss Lenses http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1401152/technical
  20. The spiderman was a bad decision. I have the old cartoon that used to air on fox network and there are enough stories to stitch together and make a whole film.
