I was referring to amazon taking wikileaks of their server. And yes it is corruption because some of those leaks expose people in power taking bribes.

Explaining IMAX - Infographic & Discussion

So the more perfs there are, the more area exposed. Is there a difference between horizontally placed film and vertically? -

You will have to become patient with me. I am still trying to learn cinematography. What is the difference between 3 perf, 4 perf and 15 perfs. -

So what is the difference between 5 perf and 15 perf? Do more perf's increase the image in lattitude, contrast, saturation and color? -
Amazon is just too deep integrated into society. Any boycott will not have an impact. I do agree with you. We are being censored for exposing corruption.

Good Story borad program for MAC?
Joseph Arch replied to Josh Phoenix's topic in Directors and Directing
Another way you can do it if you're not good at drawing and want a very good pictures for the shots: If you have a copy of "The Sims 2", you can recreate real-life settings, create Sim representations of your characters and then use the in-game screen capture ability to create the shots and then edit them in a photo editor to match what it is your going for. The more games you use, the more shots you can create. -
Good Story borad program for MAC?

Or you could send them a link to a video similar to the one you have in mind so if the client changes their mind and goes with another company you would have not squandered time. -
Finally. Someone spoke up. Film has a century head start.

Don't export it as anamorphic. It will squeeze it down. Export it as square pixels.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, Richard.

If you have a camera that cannot take lenses, you won't know jack about cinematography. -
my new short film "His First Day"
Joseph Arch replied to Brian Rose's topic in On Screen / Reviews & Observations
I enjoyed that. I done stop motion at college and it took me 5 hours to get 1 second. It is extremely time consuming. You did a wonderful job. -
The budget was $60 million but it only made back $26 million. Bot a good sign that he will get another deal to make a film.

UK in "well-produced series" shocker
Joseph Arch replied to Phil Rhodes's topic in On Screen / Reviews & Observations
It looks well shot. Was this shot on 16mm or HD? To me it looks like film but I could be wrong. Still learning. -
If my lady friend was like that, I could tolerate her but in time I could see that even our conversations would need a exploding car during 200mph.

I hear you. It's all about marketing. Marketing the sensible and enjoyable films. Also, actors taking 20 million of the budget is very painful for us to just do nothing. When would you think hollywood went bad. The 80's or 90's and who is mostly to blame?

Digital meltdown! Reel & Archiving
Joseph Arch replied to Alfeo Dixon's topic in General Discussion
@Alfeo Dixon The best codecs would be divx/xvid/h.264 for archive. 720 resolution is fine for a domestic mac. 1080 is a computer killer unless you are equipped with 2 separate processors and 8GB of ram. Handbrake is really strong with dvd's. It can do the job. For encoding I would recommend Compressor, VisualHub, QuickTime Pro is one of my favourite and ffmpegX. I have not used Compressor in a while but could you give me a list of presets so I can choose the best for you to use. -
It says to double click on any picture to save to your computer. It was small to read that's why you missed it first time.

Kanye West "Welcome To Heartbreak"
Joseph Arch replied to a topic in On Screen / Reviews & Observations
First time I saw that effect I thought the video was encoded badly. Then I realised that it was on purpose. Usually when something new is made everyone wants to do it. Ray Of Light special effect, apple's icon reflections, The Matrix bullet time and a lot more. -
KNOWING director Alex Proyas on RED camera
Joseph Arch replied to Victor Khong's topic in On Screen / Reviews & Observations
That will be revealed in time. Thanks for your story. It was interesting to read. I never said never, David. It will eventually come into play that digital will take over film or even be incorporated with it to give it a whole new look. However, right now is not it's time to shine. It's just not ready yet. It's catching up so we never know what is going to happen. I am not really certain why after my apology you still have this grudge against me. I am still learning. So, even if I am a little stubborn. I am pretty sure you and others here are also stubborn in an area of your life. Time will reveal everything. So, instead of trying to just ignore me, continue guiding. No matter how good a teacher is, experience will always win. -
KNOWING director Alex Proyas on RED camera
Joseph Arch replied to Victor Khong's topic in On Screen / Reviews & Observations
I am not going to repeat my self why I prefer film to digital in cinema. I am not dictating to people how to make films and how it should be made. Quite the opposite. Digital fans are telling film cinematographers to use digital over film. You are a respected artist. Even when you insult me I still admire and respect your work. Then it would not have won so many Oscars if people did not think it was an outstanding achievement in film making. My very first post was my stepping stone and I have passed that phase. You do not know me. You do not know anything about me. So, because of certain questions I might ask, does that entitle you to offend me. I have not offended anyone directly nor indirectly. Maybe you are offended. Clearly, it was not my intention to offend you. -

Miami vice had colin farrell and Jamie Fox but the worst cinematography. It was not received well with 'normal' people. Lord Of The Rings had no major actors in it at the time and it is one of the best achievements in film history. All three films had a budget of $93 million each. That, would seem impossible for a three hour film, each, to have actors take millions of dollars away. The Mummy and The Mummy Returns also no big name actors but a budget of $80 to $98 million. A great action flick that people really enjoyed. Studio executives may think to them selves that people want to see big time actors in movies because it will make it better. Maybe in California that is true. However, the rest of the world objects to big name actors, Europeans mostly, and prefers solid stories so they may experience film. I believe, if you have a solid story with good actors, not just a big name, and a creative director then the rest will fall into place.
