  1. I've had to put ice "saddle bags" on the RED in the past because it shut down from overheating. Two freezer bags tied with some trick line on either side of the camera did the job, it rebooted after about 10 minutes and then I just kept a good bag rotation until the environment cooled down. Hopefully you won't have that problem though.
  2. I'm about to start a shoot with the Panasonic 3700 "Varicam" and while looking at the manual today I saw that it can record in either 23.98 or 24fps. This is an MOS shoot, and staying in video format for post, so I feel like we should shoot 24fps...? Another question would be, is there is any advantage to using one frame rate over the other in terms of P2 record space? Thanks.
  3. That's true, thanks guys. I guess they're all a bit different. When I metered through this one it was only 1 1/2 stops.
  4. What is the stop loss when using Antique Suede 3? I cannot seem to find that information on Tiffen or Formatt's sites. Thanks.
  5. I use the kimwipes as well, they're actually cheaper than the precision books (I haven't tried those) because you get 280 sheets instead of 50. I take a few of them out of the box and carry them in a small ziploc bag in my pocket so they're on hand.
  6. Yes they do... Thanks for the info.
  7. Can the gels be reused after the squeegee/sprite method or do they become too gunked up and sticky? Just curious. I've gelled windows with snot tape and water before but not sprite..
  8. You can put 'hot hands' handwarmers in a little pocket of duvetyne and then tape them to the camera. Sounds crazy but I've done it before :)
  9. I believe you can download versions for palm, iphone, etc here: http://dofmaster.com/doftable.html
  10. be very attentive of the loop size - once you load it a few times you'll get the hang of it and be able to load it the same each time, but that was tricky for my 2nd the first couple times he did it.
  11. I've 1sted it a few times, once with a p+s on it and optimo zoom and a few other times with just a fuji cinestyle. It's a great camera, the AVC Intra codec is really a beautiful thing. You probably won't need to know any of the menus thoroughly since the 1st should set all of that, but I would recommend checking out the manual before the shoot just so you are familiar with them and know a lot of the basic technical info. ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Dri..._AJ-HPX3000.pdf -maileen
