  1. Chris, it's hard to tell, looking at the quality of encoding, if I could ask to encode it at a better quality, overall it looks like you've put a great effort, thanks for watching!
  2. Spencer, many things that you say I can agree. I have the same setup. Love it. Use Nikon 35mm F1.4, 50mm F1.2 and Zeiss 100mm F2, sometimes I rent ELite lenses, checked out Arri. Nikons are pretty compartible. Regards, Oleg.
  3. Just a quick note, deep DOF with hard video look, (maybe it needed to be encoded in better resolution?) has little to do with cinematography, it's rather digital storytelling. It can be done, shooting everything with long focal length, underexposing, etc. Great effort and thank you for watching. Cheers, Oleg.
  4. Alex, that is a great idea, in theory I though of doing it myself. I used to do it in still photography. I guess it all comes down to calculating of how much light needed to overpower the sun 2 stops, have to figure out that, inside the car lighting can be problematic if you want soft look, hard look from lighting outside should be no problem, Please update how you proceed. Cheers, Oleg.
  5. Antoinette "Back And Forth" Great beauty look of the clip , lighting, nice skin tones! blown out highlights look good. Excellent! Some Critique Editing could've been better, lots of similar shots cut together, mid to mid, etc. Some diversity could help. Camera zoom throws me off a little. Better variety of shots, still some similarity in editing. Crossing of the line, maybe, if you've had the guy looking at the girl from the other side of the fence. Overall very good job! On a second video, Great concept! Good delivery! Critique Wide shot of a dancing TV girl become a little boring after a while. (wanted to switch to another music channel :) A guy with TV comes a little too late. Again, little variety, different focal length would be great. Please take my critique as an improvement suggestion and pure IMHO.
  6. Very funny, I laughed through watching it, great actor. Imho, a couple more of close ups wouldn't hurt. Good job!
  7. A link to screenshots from small budget commercial I've just shot, taken with H1 with PS mini35 adapter Let me know what you think. http://olegkalyan.ru/reel/komilfo.html
  8. The link, that is a must! http://olegkalyan.ru/reel/komilfo.html
  9. Hello everyone! I am pretty new here and I happen to shoot a low budget commercial for Moscow Beauty Salon, please take a look at Screen Shots, let me know what you think, the commercial is being edited, I expect it done within 10 days, Cheers, Oleg Kalyan.
  10. Gary, I've not seen the footage, it should be equal or better to the mini 35 adapters, I own a mini 35 and plan to upgrade to compact due to a better light loss. Below is a test I did with PS mini35 and 50mm f1.2 Nikon lens http://olegkalyan.ru/_Quicktime/test50mm1.2web.mov Regards, Oleg.
  11. I was at Moscow TV and Media exhibition yesterday, P+S Technik was presented, I spoke to Philip Vischer and he gave me a promo DVD, below is the link related to Compact35 from DVD, http://olegkalyan.ru/_Quicktime/compact35web.mov
  12. Andrew, Obviously I meant to run a generator with the trunk open, and the car stationary, not really for car shots, more so for location filming. Which HMI 1.2k do you use with the set of car batteries? I live and work in Moscow, Russia now, running a small production company, putting together a small movie, I lived in LA for about 10 years, will visit some time in next couple of months. I will give you a call when I am in town, thank you for offering help! Cheers!
  13. Andrew, thanks again for your input, now is seems that I'd buy a portable silenced generator, instead of inverter, that makes more sense, or does it? This way I can keep it inside the trunk and power it up whenever needed, it can also be of a higher power. Please correct me if that is wrong.
  14. Thanks a lot everyone! Andy, appreciate, where can I learn more, order magnetic ballasts? Cheers, Oleg.
  15. I've just bought Joker Bug 800 w light, very excited to use it a lot on different shoots, looking forward to use it on location, possibly power it from the car using an 12- 110/220 inverter, car battery to take with inverter, would I need to get a Generator?
