  1. Are you trying to produce shafts of clean, white light? Such as:
  2. Two Berkeley Colortran 6", 1k fresnels. Comes with heavy duty, triple riser baby stands. I'll also include two custom pipe clamps and a 700w bulb if you want to down lamp one of the fixtures. Lenses are clean and in excellent condition. Scrims included. $350 OBO Also, I'm selling Selling Lowel's version of "The Wall of Light." It's holds six 4' bulbs. Comes with ballast and bulbs. The unit was originally priced at $1200, new, and I am selling it for $550 OBO. Local pickups are preferred, I live in Chicago, but I will ship the units as well.
  3. 1. A 2k pulls 20 amps (safe math), 17 amps true load. Edit: Ignore my post. Didn't see the responses.
  4. Sorry, I'm not sure what the correct term for it would be. Drip pan, water pan, etc. Here is a photo of what I am referring to: David Mullen discussed using one for Jennifer's Body.
  5. For an upcoming shoot I'm gaffing we will be doing a night exterior at a pool. The DP and I would like to create the moving water look on the walls. I remember reading an article about lighting at pools and "drip pans" are often used to create the waving lines, water effect. What are some good ways of making my own drip pan?
  6. I'm about to sell a 6 bulb fluorescent fixture but before I do I need to fix some wiring and replace a broken connector. I'm having trouble finding a replacement for these parts: (broken piece on left) If somebody could link me to the correct hardware I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
  7. Are there any other distributors who sell the earpiece for a little cheaper?
  8. I would not lay the frames on top of the roof. One, it would be hard to get them properly balanced and secured. Two, the fabric could easily be torn by the metal roof. If the roof is a sturdy structure and you can get permission, I would put up the frames on combo stands with junior off set arms on both sides. This way your stands will be out of shot and the frames will be secure. There would be additional benefits too. Stronger diffusion by increasing the distance and it will make it easier for your DP to frame wide shots if you have "ceiling" clearance.
  9. Hey Sam, which school do you go to and who was the DP you worked for?
  10. I'll cast another vote in favor of the Chicago sub forum.
  11. Looks like a lens baby was used for most of the shooting.
  12. Hey, Columbia's Cinematography program is supposed to be really good. I have a few friends who are going to that school right now and they all love it. I will be starting there this fall. I'm pretty excited to go. If I were you I'd visit the school sometime soon. It is an awesome place.
  13. Although the HPX is a real beauty it will most likely be out of his price range as well.
  14. Maybe it is just me but that email didn't even make sense.
