  1. Hey, Does anyone out there have any examples of the triangular-shaped bokeh that these lenses produce? I've been searching and searching to death and I can't find any screen grabs or videos online which showcase these lenses' unique bokeh properly at the right apertures. I was curious if any owners of these lenses had any of their work online where I could take a look at "the look." Any links would be helpful! Thanks very much!
  2. If you don't mind adding, what size sensor are you exposing to? A 14mm lens produces a very different field of view on a Micro Four Thirds, an APS-C/Super35, APS-H or Full Frame 35/VistaVision size sensor. So, this would vary greatly on preference. And, of course I think it varies greatly on the nature of the specific shot and if it adds to the telling of the story. Very few, if any, films are shot with wide lenses only. "Soy Cuba" being the only one coming to mind.
  3. Are you looking for local pickup or would it be possible to pay for proper shipping? Thanks!
  4. Since you're starting out, I'd say stick with f1.8 (ish) primes. You can get a Canon 35mm f2.0, 50mm f1.8, 85mm f1.8 and not spend more than around $800. If you buy Used, you can definitely get that for much less (and possibly within your targeted budget). You'll be a little limited on the wide angle end, but you'll be covered for your most popular focal lengths and be able to shoot in a wide variety of lighting conditions. Unfortunately, there's just not really a "cheap" zoom option that also lets in a lot of light. That 17-55 f2.8 recommendation is the only real option, but you'll be spending around 2-2.5 times your budget on one lens that will be limited to just the wide angle and standard focal lengths, excluding a really nice 85mm portrait range.
  5. Although, you can probably find a used Tokina 11-16 online or at your local camera shop for around that $400-500 price point. Great lens though. I second the recommendation.
  6. Thanks much Chris. Not super crazy about that particular set of Nikons; never really have been. But, I appreciate the recommendation. I've contacted George from the REDuser thread and am awaiting a response. Just thought I'd check in here to see what other options exist out there. Thanks!
  7. I've got a project coming up in a few months and I'm considering shooting it with K35's. I'm curious if anyone out there owns a set and would be willing to rent them out? If so, where are you located, would you be willing/able to ship the lenses, and what are your rates for rental? If you'd like, feel free to reply to the thread or send me a message. Thanks very much!
