  1. Jayson, fantastic post,I haven't read all of it yet in great detail, but its one I'll be coming back to regularly. How you manage to keep such a journal under the pressure you're working with, beats me. Stills are terrific, congratulations, looking forward to seeing it when it's released. Tom.
  2. I was at the FCP users group meeting in London recently, where Walter Murch was the guest speaker. He talked extensively about Tetro, showed clips straight out of FCP and discussed the workflow. The camera used was a Sony F900 with Zeiss Digiprimes. There was apparently 128 hours of footage to be edited, what was fascinating was Mr Murch's workflow. He has a wall of cards, colour coded depending on the mood of the scene, and with a full description of the scene. Some of the cards are turned on end, like diamonds, these signify a change in mood. Each card has a little tab attached to it which is coloured yellow, signifying the scene was unedited or red which meant edited. What a very modest man, each day when he came to work,he said his job was to try and change the colour of as many tabs as he could. The footage he projected from Tetro, did look very 'video',but it would be unfair to comment more based on what I've seen, especially since it was from clips on his laptop,he had the whole edit on his laptop. I'm looking forward to seeing the film properly. Tom.
  3. Hi, I haven't tried it personally, but several editors have recommended Twixtor, perhaps worth checking it out. http://www.revisionfx.com/products/twixtor/ Regards Tom
  4. I'm planning to be there, look forward to seeing others. Tom.
  5. Bruce, great post, very interesting reading, thanks for taking the trouble. Tom.
  6. Seconded. As a mere user,I would like to understand more about the technologies involved in digital capture, and this hijacking of what was a promising thread into childish snipping is really quite boring. I would certainly welcome it if Graeme Nattress would add his voice to this discussion. I would also suggest that Mr Jannard and Mr Walters try and show a little more self restraint. Thank you. Tom
  7. Hi, I managed to download the diagrams before the site was closed. I feel uncomfortable posting them for public download, but if any of you want them, I'm quite happy to send them privately to you. PM me with your email and I'll send them as an attachment. Regards Tom.
  8. Hi Serge, I'm ashamed to say that I've never actually shot with RC28,always RC36,so I've never tested the difference. I'm prepping just now for a Red shoot next week,so I'll add it to my list and post any conclusions. Tom.
  9. Hi Serge, I checked on my camera today, and you can shoot 16.9 and 4K HD on the 8gb cards,BUT only at RC28. I believe that you can shoot both of these formats on the 16gb cards at RC36,but I can't personally confirm this. You're absolutely correct, the drive has a real problem dropping frames with any vibration,a shock mount should be included as standard kit with any rental. I personally use the Element Technica one, although there are others available, even did some stuff from a helicopter recently without a single dropped frame. Tom.
  10. Hi Serge, my first post to the forum, although I read regularly. Glad your first Red shoot went well, the camera can be a complete nightmare the first time. I personally haven't had any overheating problems and my camera is on for 8/10 hours in a very small very hot studio,so it probably was the fan settings. Although I have a drive,I personally prefer to use cards,an 8gb card is roughly the same as a 400ft mag,so it's a kind of familiar territory.I'm not sure if you can shoot quad HD on the card but I'll check tomorrow. I have a copy of the Build 17 menu layout which somebody produced, which is invaluable, even when you know the camera well.I normally have it printed and sitting on a music stand next to me when I'm operating. I don't have a link to the download, but if you, or anybody else wants it,PM me with your email and I'll send it. Tom.
