  1. Hi, Does anybody have a surplus Bolex Lens Hood to fit the Kern Vario-Switar f2 12.5mm-100mm zoom lens the'd like to sell ? ( plastic Bolex push-on shade fits POE, PTL etc.) Please PM me if you have one in very good condition. Cheers all :P John S
  2. I remember seeing a battered old Millenium with a 1000' mag ( bare cases only - no mechs or guts ) on eBay about a year and a half ago. It was advertised as an ex-Disney prop and sold for over $1000.00 from what I recall. John S
  3. Dwaynes are recognised ( ...but doubt they are certified ) by Kodak for K-14 processing. The results I've had ( and seen ) were terrible. 35mm slides with drying marks, dirt and in card mounts with rounded corners ! ....and 8mm with very 'strange' results ( albeit from out of date stock ). Films sent to Kodak / Switzerland are forwarded to the US then returned ( via Switzerland ). Kodak do not now include the processing price for cine film, but costs are included for 35mm slide films ( participating countries ). Eastman Kodak DID make and sell 'small' K-14 processors and chemicals but didn't have much take up on this product ( as it's a VERY difficult process and required a lot of film throughput to keep in control ). 5. I would seriously avoid any 'TV' lenses as they are really designed for a lower resolution 'image capturing' system. Obviously if it mounts on the camera ( and it can focus ) - it will shoot images....but at a cost of resolution. John S
  6. Actually Jean-Louis, Only this morning I got a problem with the camera's eye piece shutter. It's jammed half way ( closed - with no view ), and have tried to remove the external magazine saddle from on top of the camera. I've managed to remove all visable screws ( so I can remove all four of the small screws on the viewfinder 'tube' ) but it's still solidly on there. Is the magazine saddle glued on too ? Any ideas how I can procede ? Many thanks for your help in advance. John S
  7. Ahhhh...so it is for that then! Thanks Jean-Louis John S
  8. Hi all, Does anybody know what the small round socket directly beneath the lens mount is for ? It's normally plugged with a short black plastic 'pin' ( probably to stop light getting in the gate ). There seems to be two electrical contacts inside the hole. .......possibly for a synch flasher ? Cheers, John S

  10. Gregory, These films are not sensitive to IR. I use IR safelighting ( with viewing goggles ) in the lab for all colour and B&W film ( except IR films of course ). Film that's damaged by heat, is damaged by heat ! not IR. John S
  11. Hi Boris, Thanks for that useful information. I'm actually still waiting for the instruction manual to turn up so I'll check that when I get it. ( I'll keep my eyes open for one on eBay ). All the best, and thanks again. John S
  12. Hello all, I've just got hold of an SBM and was disappointed not to find a cable release socket anywhere. Does anybody know if / what Bolex accessory i need to shoot single frames without touching the camera ? John S
