  1. Unfortunately there is no way to do that. There is no bulb small enough to fit into a fixture like that, and if there was it certainly would not have near enough light output for that type of light. Ignoring that you would also be changing the entire characteristic of the light which is one reason to have those types of fixtures. If you want fluorescent you will have to buy fluorescent lights, or if being green is your intention: led fixtures.
  2. Well, Canon is releasing a new HD-DSLR camera soon: The 60D. So we will see what that does to prices. It is supposed to be out soonish, but there is no date that I know of. B&H says Approx September.
  3. Now, I am only a recent graduate and have shot on the SR-2 a handful of times at best, so anyone more experienced please chime in, but I wouldn't use the viewfinder for anything more than focus and framing. When you look into the viewfinder what you are seeing is a reflected image off of the mirrored shutter, so with color you are only getting half of the story: the color as it comes through the lens, how the film will affect that has a lot to do with the stock you use. And I would NEVER trust the viewfinder for exposure. That has to do with the speed of filmstock you are using, and I imagine only a seasoned pro would know how that relates to the image they see in the viewfinder. So yes, you would be in a lot of trouble if you messed around until you liked the image, this isn't video.
  4. I built a dimmer out of stuff from the hardware store. They were low on some stuff so I bought a dimmer switch that typically goes in a wall, an outlet plug, again the kind you install in your house, an appliance replacement cord, which is like a pre stripped extension cord. Wired it together and bam, a dimmer. Of course I should have built an enclosure for it, I shocked myself a few times. So if you DIY make sure to get an enclosure for it all. For the bulb cords, they make cords like that, but you can DIY with an extension cord and a lightbulb adapter thing. Of course, if your going to be swinging it around, that's a bad idea.
  5. I just got off a particularly windy shoot where we used a Cardellini on a c-stand to help stabilize the 12x12 on top of bagging everything.
