  1. Hi, just shoot a scene in an office (med-shot) using daylight from window and 2 ARRI 300. There was enough light until I put the CTB on the ARRI (of course I had to do it for color balance). Is it my imagination or Arri 300 is really low using with CTB ? Unless used for close up ?
  2. Hi, I'm using a Beaulieu 4008. When I do close up, using the wide angle, the focus looks the same wether it's on 3ft or on infinity. Is it normal? Thanks
  3. Ozzie Morris is among the greatest for sure. I never saw any color like Huston's Moulin Rouge! Amazing!
  4. Can't make a top 5! Even a top 10 is hard! Some of my favorites: -Fritz Arno Wagner -Gregg Toland -Hal Mohr -Jack Cardiff -Stanley Cortez -Gordon Willis -Henri Alekan -Conrad Hall -Gordon Willis -Freddie Francis -Vilmos Zsigmond
  5. Also "The Hill" from Sydney Lumett, shot with wide angle lenses only. As the film goes on the anle lens is getting wider and wider until the last scene where everybody's getting crazy, faces (including Sean Connery's) completly distorted... On of the best use of wide angle for sure!
  6. -Polanski's great hallucination scenes from "Repulsion" and "The tenant" -Kubrick's "Clockwork Orange"
  7. I don't know how to read the expiracy date. On the white square there's number though, 286 158559.
  8. I have a lot of 7240 stock I wanted to use. Do you think it's a very bad option?
  9. I'm not shooting 2001 obviously and I know it's impossible to create that light on a simple bathroom, just sayin' this is the kind of mood I'm looking for.
  10. Thanks! The bathroom is already completly white. Fluorescent bulbs you say ? Where would you put it? I thought fixing some on the ceiling but use some on the floor as well. Should I keep the bathroom dry or wet?
  11. Just curious, I heard about avisynth. What is it doing that after effects doesn't ? Is it really interesting?

  13. The expiry date is on the box. I understand now why she got the film without the boxes! Damn! I didn't check anything because the films came from a school I thought I could trust. I used it already. I'm in US so I'll go for Dwayne's. Thanks for that. I wonder how it's gonna look like!
  14. Here's an exemple of the white mood I'm looking for, the problem is here the light seems to come from the floor wich of course I can't reproduce.

  16. Hi, anybody know where I can process Kodachrome 40? I just shoot a short fiction with a friend of mine who's in a filmaking-school, she got the rolls from her professor, he didn't tell her it was hard to find a place to process nor how old was the films. He sold the rolls 20$ each. Was it fare? I wonder...
  17. Hi, I'm shooting in a bathroom with a super8 Beaulieu 4008. I'm looking for a neon kind of light. I thought using Kino Flo but this units are good for video, I don't know about super8. Just to give you an idea, I'm looking for the glossy, foggy white atmosphere you can find in some of the Kubrick's film. It will be of course very far from that because we're shooting in super 8 and we can't afford to rent too much equipment, and it's a small bathroom. Do you have any idea ?
  18. Hello, in cinema, in a inside scene with artificial light, very often you have a light that appears in the frame (justifying the key light) while the real source of light is a big one out of the frame. My question is : Where can we get that fake light, the one that appears on the frame without creating over-exposure? Thank you

  20. Hey, you came here with a good question. I can't answer yet, I'll have to check. I was kinda thinking rolling at 18fps anyway to save film but it might be a bad idea in terms of quality I guess.
  21. Hi, I want to shoot a sequence by day in a living room, my key light would be the natural light coming from the window but my fill light would be artificial. I'm using a Beaulieu 4008 ZMTT. Should I keep the in-camera filter made for daylight or should I insert the keyfilter made for artificial light ? Thanks
