  1. Wow, so please give me their contact :P Maybe they might have any, who know? Thanks, Flavio
  2. SUre. I know what you mean. But there's hundreds of possibilities. Something will come up soon. Await!! ;)
  3. Damn! Ok. But if filmcamerakit has them, they might know who does and where to find. I mean... This thing EXISTS! Well, I'd really prefer to keep the camera original instead of adapting a hole somewhere just to connect a cable... Is there any other electrical shops/suppliers in UK that might know the answer? Or maybe have it? I'm on a quest for it now... I will not pay 75quid for a single cable, I think this is absurd. I'm contacting Arri anyway, somebody there would be prepared to answer. Thanks again, Ian. F
  4. One last thing... I'm looking for that "banana plug" but I find it only in the most different shapes. But none looks like that one. Do you know the technical name of it? I've found a similar line of IEC CONNECTORS, but I think are not that ones as well. :S
  5. Sorry. I said Tobin CRYSTAL, but actually is not a crystal motor. It's the TCS TM-23. Not a crystal-sync motor... And both cameras have the male "banana" connector on the back. That plug on filmcamerakit.com would be perfect cause it also has that piece that holds together with another pice that locks it firmly in the body, avoiding it be pulled by mistake. Anyway, that's my only problem now. Find that piece (or a similar one, of course). Another random question... I saw a nice soldering iron on Maplin, it's battery powered... Do you reckon this would do the job? Cause mine is an old one, a bit damaged, will trow out and buy a new. And have one on batteries, means I can do this on every place... Many million thanks again for all your help, Ian! F
  6. Wow. Here I am replying to a post 3 years old... All I have to say is actually a plea... Clive! PLEASE build some wonderful crystal-sync for us! Here, speaking to you from the future in 2011, I can tell you now they're pretty scarse... Very scarse. I've just bought two Arri 16s kits, and willing to put them at their best! And convert them to ULTRA16. Why not manufacture a hundred and see how they go? After looking at DOZENS of posts where people are FAMISHED for a single 12V Crystal-Sync... I BET they would go pretty quick. I'd like 2, please... :P
  7. Ok, am going to build this cable. I saw the Maplin piece, Ian. But what is the banana plug for the other side? I saw on filmcamerakit on this page on New Arri 16 ST Power Cable, the banana plug has some kind of "clip" that would probably be helpful to hold the cable on place. Please let me know other specs, like the CABLE TYPE/MM, and HOW LONG it should ideally be or how long they normally are. Want to go soon to Maplin with a list to build 2 identical cables. Thanks, guys!
  8. hey Ian. I knew you would answer. That's wicked, thanks loads! I'm aware of the soldering type, I have it. I'll look for the stuff on Maplin. Have decided I will do it myself. ;) After I find everything, in case I need some further advice, I will post it here. Thanks, man! Flavio
  9. Hi. Just got my 2 Arri 16s sets by post. Serial number around 6000 and one around 8000. Unfortunately it arived with the 4 mags broken acrylic on the footage meter, BECAUSE the guy who sent me put 2 mags together, each motor facing that part... Damn! Anyway, both cameras are pristine, and one body works but the other not, says the seller. NOW... I want to make the whole set work but want to test myself first before send anywhere to overhaul. Good to learn more about the camera as well. So... PART 1 What's the best way to build 2 power cables to conenct the cameras to a battery? I have an old belt battery but only power cable to plug on the mains to recharge. Or a cheaper way to buy 2 cables. On filmcamerakit.com the cables are £75 EACH I think. Is there a cheaper place you guys now (in UK or EUROPE) or is it better build them myself? i only want to use wuality material and make them really sturdy. I have precision tools at home, solder, etc, as my wife is jewelry designer, so I only need to know how to do that. PART 2 I need to CONVERT all my mag motors and all necessary things on the set to 12V, cause I have a Tobin motor 12V as well. So better convert all to avoid problems. I saw here in the forum a topic of someone talking about cnverting motors from 8V to 12V, what parts to buy, how to do, etc... but couldn't find the topic. Ian was helping me with some electrical tips... Ian, are you around? Anyway, every help more than welcome, (actually and tip is a life-saver). And let the saga begin. F
  10. CHANGE I mean, EXCHANGE/buy another and sell one of mine Standar Arri 16s...
  11. Hi guys. Yeah, I really want to have A and B Arris. The set still will need a decent overhaul, and I really want to chaneg one of the bodies for a S/B mount. Then I have how to use heavier zoom lenses It's quite an adventure on itself. I'll stay a couple of months working to make the whole set work properly, convert all the electric to 12V so I can use my tobin motoron every shoot. Thanks.
  12. WHY is the Beaulieu a better option that the Arri 16s?
  13. Thanks, John Yeah, I thought to do that. But its not easy to find an Arri 16 S/B BODY ONLY. They normally sell it on kits. Actually, if I buy and S/B camera, I'll end with 3 bodies. I already have 2 Arri 16s. I'll looking into sell one of the bodies and buying a S/B one.
  14. Not sure if I've read here on this forum about conversion of an Arri 16s to 16s/b? Is it even possible?
  15. Hi all. --> Looking for lenses for my Arriflex 16s, I couldn't see any PRESET LENS that would work on an ARRI 16s on eBay, Google, etc? Does anybody knows any? Or maybe its a very rare item to find so easily?
  16. Thought to shake a bit the Arr ST Prime Lens field with a question for the enthusiasts, like me. :P Am acquiring 2 Arri 16s kits with a 1.2/16mm Arriflex-Cinegon Schneider lens, so need some expert advice on how to compose a great set, what's being used in the field, and for what kind of shoots, etc... So, what's your dream set of primes lens for Arri 16S and why do you like your set?
  17. Also, I will probably leave my 2 Arriflex S kit at Camerakit.com, as I heard great recommendations from a professional. And I spoke to Alex there, the guy was really attentious to my problems and gave precious advice. Ta, F
  18. Thanks. But I have read an email reply from a Servicing company of Bolexes, saying that the serial number on that series came actually in the bottom, closed to the tripod hole, when using a tripod, for several times, it might have caused the scratch. Not sure, but maybe is possible. But yes, you never know what really happens. Well, but I have to keep it anyway, it's my only option as the guy dont have another 16mm that is ideal for conversion. So no other way. Thanks anyway. Flavio
  19. Have found myself... Of course, in the Bolex EL MANUAL. Thanks anyway. Flavio
  20. PLUS, one more for the Bolex Experts. Does anybody has a picture of an original Bolex EL BATTERY? I've found a company in California, but they're asking a picture to know if they re-cell (Oh wow...). I've found some on Google, but not sure if it's that "cylinder" kind of Battery, in a black tape? Thanks, Flavio
  21. HI all I'm looking for battery recell facilities on USA that could operate a recelling on my Bolex EL 12V NiCad battery. Does anybody knows any, preferencially in or close to California? Thanks, Flavio
  22. Great, thanks. But forgot to ask. This goes IN THE ZOOM LENS, is it? Not sure if there's ANOTHER battery for the lens in the CAMERA BODY that would be necessary re-cell (apart from the main battery of the camera, of course)? Thanks, Flavio
  23. Hi Thanks again, Ian. Thing is the camera is ALREADY in USA. I also can't believe they don't have a battery to test, but that's life. No comments. I have two options: 1. Buy a battery/charger = US$ 125.00 2. Send it to re-cell = US$79.00 + P&P (around $100.00 or more). Seems the cable is a bit damaged, but it can be checked by the guys will re-cell I think. Only hhen I can send the camera to be converted. :/ Jean, the CR123 lithium battery is that one you find anywhere? This one? So I can send them one of this an would be ok?
  24. Hi Ian. Thanks again. Yeah, that's exactly what I thought. But problem is I can't do the battery myself as my camera is in USA and will be converted to Ultra/Overhauled there. So I have to manage to find a Charger/Battery THERE in USA. That one for US$ 125.00 was one option I've found that seemed reliable. But now the owner sends me an email saying that battery can cause problems to my EL.... BUT is advertised as "works for Bolex EL"???? For last he said in the email "can not be blamed if any problem happens"!!! WTF???? Now I'm not sure if I would buy anything from this place... Still have to manage to find a good priced battery/charger in USA. PLUS! I have to find another SMALL BATTERY for my ZOOM LENS, the VARIO SWITAR 10-110 POE. Does anybody knows which model is? Or if there's none and have to be re-celled? Any tips will REALLY help me, please!!! Thanks, Flavio
  25. Guys, I have a problem. An advertiser sells a lead acid battery+charger that WORKS WITH Bolex, Arriflex, etc. It's advertised on the website (for US$125,00) that is compatible,etc... THen I was told by email that "the Lead acid battery doesn't work well with the Bolex EL" and I should buy ANOTHER ONE: 12 volt 4500Mah Ni-MH Battery$ 175 .00 12-volt 5-amp Battery. Brand New. Comes with: - 4-Pin Female XLR connector & connector built in - Carry strap (for over the shoulder) and belt loop option To charge this battery you will need to purchase separately the Ansmann ACS110 Traveler Charger $ 100.00 or I have a Tenergy fast charger $50.00 Isn't it too much money for a battery/Charger? $175.00 + $100.00 for a kit? Jeeeeeeeeez! Am sure I'm not getting crazy. ANyway, I have the option to re-cell the battery for $75 + send/return by post, so around $125. The price of the battery I first saw that "says" is compatible, lead acid... WHAT TO DO????
