  1. I shot a music video with Canon 5D mk2 and the footage was 30p. I converted it to Apple ProRes HQ to edit it and kept the same frame rate. So I edited it at 30 frames. It didnt occur to me that Id have to print it on tape at 25fps (PAL standard) so It can air at that rate. Now Im wondering if I should finish my video and export it and THEN convert it to 25p OR stop where I am, and convert all my footage to 25p and edit on top of a 25p export of what I already have. Ive converted a mixdown with MPEG streamclip from 30p to 25p and with frame blending the cuts look like a 1 frame dissolve. Without frame blending the motion looks a bit choppy. Ive converted footage from 30p to 25p and in the motion I can see the frames blending. On the other hand I will upload the video on YouTube. Isnt it better if I keep it 30p for YouTube? Any advise would be useful since Ive stopped editing till I resolve this matter. Thanks!
  2. I think the title of this thread says most of the stuff but id just break it down for you here. Im gonna get back to shooting, directing and editing music videos and I need to buy a Mac Book Pro and Final Cut Studio 3 software. The first two videos Im gonna do will be shot on Canon 5d mk2 1080p. Will Final Cut be able to handle the HD footage on a Mac Book Pro? Are there any known issues? What should I look out for before I buy Mac Book Pro and Final Cut Studio 3? Thanks!
  3. Hi, I've got some of my music videos at this link: http://www.myspace.com/alxfilms I've directed and edited those clips. Did some camera work too. I'd like you to tell me what you think. I am located in Greece right now and I am finally moving to Chicago - USA. I'd like you to tell me my strong and weak points. Thank you.
  4. Really nice work. Well shot, put together well too! :) Id like you to check out my work and leave me some feedback: http://www.cinematography.com/forum2004/in...showtopic=19256 Thank you!

  6. Is there any c-mount wide angle or even fish eye lens for my Beaulieu 4008? Is there a new one or should i look to some old/used ones and out of production??
  7. Hi, Ive shot 10 cartridges of super 8 Kodak Ektachrome VNF-1 process (The old stock, not the new 64t). Ive shot my footage in July and I've kept it in my fridge till now. Im gonne be sending it to a lab for processing and telecine. Will everything turn out to be ok at proccessing? Thank you..
  8. Ive heard about this before. But, will you be able to preserve your film resolution by digitizing your 16mm to HD? I mean its ok if you plan to play your clip or movie on TV screen (Broadcast or DVD) but if u plan to prject your film on the big screen, is the final 35mm film the same at the end of both transfers? If its "the same", why cant we just shoot on HD and transfer only the final cut on 35mm?
  9. Are the E-6 chemicals easy to find?
  10. Thanks alot. I personally prefer professional telecine houses that do the job. I record from wall with a friend's projector and i was just wondering if the viewer can replace it. Im into getting a Beaulieu 708EL projector (i think thats the model). And i think it can do the job for low budjet clips.
  11. Well, yea I got a Final Cut Pro setup and i want to edit s8 material digitally. Thats all! And i can always hookup a Betacam SP and record it there if im looking for better resolution.
  12. I see a lot of super8 viewers as i go through super 8 stuff on ebay. Some of them dont cost more than than 20-30 dollars. is it wise to get one of those in good working condition, modify it properly (for example removing the front screen perhaps) and put a 3CCD miniDV camera and transfer from there?
  13. I just took a look at kodak.com site and i found no info about the e64T. Why is that? Plus i havent found anywhere to buy it! Anybody got any links to e-64T???
  14. I just git my Lomo Spiral Tank. I first want to try processing some Kodak Tri-X B&W reversal film. Doea anyone now a link with the chemicals that are needed with all the steps? Will i need any equipment other than the spiral tank? Thank you! PS: I got about 10 Ektachrome films i want to process. Thats VNF-1. Is it best to try and process them my self or send them to a lab?
  15. Hi Does anybody know where i can find the equipment i need for doing home processing? I heard that i need a spiral tank. I dont even know how it looks like. Can i find the gear on the net? Any sites selling such stuff? Is ebay any good? Thank you. PS: Ive posted this topic at the Stock and Process forum too, ... If its better u can answer there... Thanx

  17. Is is worth doing it myself. Is the resault worth the money and time its gonna save me? Is there anything in the process that can be difficult to do or need any special skills? I dont want to destroy my footage.
  18. Is there a site where i can find the VNF proccess, E6 and any other recipies? Thanks
  19. Thank you very much. I already had Andec in mind for proccessing. But i am just wondering if expired agfa film has any weird look. I sure wont use it on stuff that cant be easilly reshot. I mainly want to shoot close-ups of old pictures and sketches from early 1900's with my Bealieu 4008 with a slight movement to make the picture look more live than just scanning it and putting it in my cut. but i also want to preserve the vintage look of the expired film. I can use k40 or Tri-x. I know that. But i was just wondering if i can take advantage of the agfa. Thank you. Any other advise or comments are welcomed.
  20. Does anybody have any experience with this emulsion? I just got 2 of them on ebay. Does anybody know a lab to proccess them in Europe? All the agfa moviechrome i can find is out of date. Does anyone know how it will look like in the end? Thank you.

    4008ZM2

Well i guess nobody can help me.. Or tell me if its a good idea or bad idea... Should i leave super8 and go to 16mm to have such an option?

    4008ZM2

Does any body have the Beaulieu 4008ZM2 repair manual? Do you know where i can find one? Can anybody post a link? I wanna know if i can adjust the ramp-up and ramp-down speed at the on-offs. I posted about making flashes between ends and starts. Somebody said that if i keep the camera on record lock and use the on/off switch , the shutter may remain open. I did that and it worked but it still starts stoppes real quick even if i film at 70 fps. Does anybody have any idea of wow i can modify a part of the curcuit so i can acheive what i want? Will it be safe for camera? Im thinking of installing a capasitor parallel to the on off switch but i want to see the repair manual first. Thanx a lot. ALX
  23. Hi I wonder if there are any sites with informantion about Video Production companies worldwide. In particular i want to know whats the market at North America (Argentina, Brazil....) for music videos and stuff like that and how can i get in touch. Any info apreciated.. Thanx
  24. Thank you all for your feedback! Everything said above is highly apreciated. I wanted to add an old film look. With the flashes between some cuts. My first edit was with the flashes but without the film grain and scratches. It just made it more "spooky". Thats all. Ive done many videos with out film look. I know very well how to use video and make it look good. But again.. I always take out the 2nd field. Thats also a film attribute isnt it? It gives it a more rough motion. If youre interested i can post some of my other music videos that were also shot on video. Many on Betacam and XL1.
