  1. Thanks for the article, I saw didn't know it was even shot digital until now.
  2. Has anyone seen "Drive" yet. I'm not famaliar with any of Nicolas Winding Refn's other films, i have to say this was amazing. The lighting and lens choices from Newton Thomas Sigel where fantastic. I don't think there was a frame of that movie that wasn't extremely well thought out. If you haven't seen it, please do.
  3. wouldn't the Tessive Time Filter do a better job cleaning up motion issues such as reverse spinning wheels and the like while preserving the 24fps we are used to (and that is cheaper for hollywood). http://www.tessive.com/home/time-filter/
  4. I found this to be really informative about slating. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?219838-1st-AC-tips-and-tricks the #6 entry on this forum was amazingly detailed and easy to follow for slating advice. Sorry to be the guy linking another forum here. :/
  5. David, What are your thoughts on the Panasonic 1.33x anamorphic (LA7200 16:9 conversion lens)? I know it's not cinema quality (read: sharp) but do you have any feelings about this as an option?
  6. If you're looking for a flash of light and not a flashlight tutorial as a VFX shot. I would check out www.videocopilot.net. There is a Lightining strike tutorial on there that has the steps to make a flash of light in After Effects. While other stuff happens in this tutorial (namly a dude being struck by lightining and exploding) the steps to the effect you're looking for are in there. There is also tutorials on a day for night look which has steps for headlights, this should be helpful if you're looking for a flashlight look (unless you're british then I believe it's a torch). I hope this is helpful and I'm sure it will also be a little entertaining. D.
  7. KH I'm going to let you know about the "actual names" rule of the forum. I will also suggest you go back and actually read the origional books. Daniel Craig (ouside of being blonde) is damn near perfctly fitting to Flemming's description of the character. He's a lethal, almost thuggish, killer. He's not a pretty boy clown with one-liners. (And that is the end of my fanboy rant)
  8. David and Keith, Thanks for clearing that up. I'm glad to get straight information from people who use the equipment as opposed to the company's sales info. It doesn't really make too much difference, I'm excited to see where they go with the next installment. ~D.
  9. After watching Casino Royale I went back and read the books, they're pretty addictive in an action pulp comic kind of way. I would hope that the movies continue in that direction. Royale did a good job reintroducing the character from the books, which was really closely envisioned by Connery in Dr. No and then moved ever slowly to camp. I find Daniel Craig to be one of the best actors to play the character. With that out of the way I can't wait for the next one, and I'm really pleased with the Alexas footage online, I'll wait to see how it looks in a theater. My only question is that I thought the Alexa was an anamorphic adapted system built to deal with anamorphic lenses. What's the truth in that?
