  1. sorry... i had to try. http://i.imgur.com/Ey4tZ2r.jpg xtera would lose the 3rd mag capacity. which is really what makes this case so impressive. ive never seen a 3 mag case before. you make me wish i still had the XTR!!
  2. Very interesting! But xtera is rather fat on the right hand side. I wonder if it would be an awkward squeeze?
  3. do you know specifically what camera this was cut for?
  4. Selling due to increased demand: mk1 superspeeds in 9.5mm or 25mm The 9.5mm covers the S16 area exactly, so is suitable for BMPCC or centre scan on 4K cameras The 25mm covers a larger image circle (about that of a GH2), so has a few more applications and is fetching a higher price as a result. These are functionally perfect lenses with a few cosmetic issues, cleaning marks on the front of the 25mm and a 1.2mm scratch on the rear element of the 9.5mm. All the information is on the ebay auctions, but please get in touch directly as i'm willing to sell them at forum prices! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131266583739? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131266707410? UK location, ship worldwide isaac.eastgate =AT= gmail.com
  5. Got a shoot in central america, mid october, and looking for a hookup for discounted 400ft loads of 16mm 50d, to pick up in NY on the way over. Preferably newer stock but vision 2 is fine. Looking for 8-10 rolls. Please email isaac.eastgate(at)gmail.com if you or someone you know could help. I'll also be looking for a canon PL telephoto to rent at the same time, something like a 300 f/4, if anyone has a tip for that. Many thanks Isaac
  6. I have a Marshall V-R70P-HDA here in scruffy but fully working condition. It has a V-lock battery mount and inputs for component, s-video and composite, in PAL or NTSC, as well as a 4 pin "canon" XLR for power. It also has some kind of oversampling which gives an incredibly sharp image considering it is SD. I hadnt realised that there is no crop/underscan mode and my camera outputs its 16:9 frame within a 4:3 frame. So a lot of wasted space when using this. If anyone has a similar but 4:3 monitor they want to straight-trade, e-mail me at isaac.eastgate(at)gmail.com preferably something around 6" and compact and bright enough for outdoor work (and the odd steadicam job). p.s. ignore the cable and v-mount modification, it's temporary and will be reversed.
  7. Portabrace are big on soft cases. A leather barney is a nice midway point, protecting the camera but without ever needing to be removed. They are rarer these days. I've been using a film changing bag just bigger than a laptop for aaton mags for a while. Its claustrophobic and a total nuisance but gets the job done. Would be interested if there was a fairly cheap source of tents. The Harrisons are a few hundred arent they? I could buy a real tent for that much.
  8. ahoy there, beginner in need!! looking for examples for lighting a classic junior school gym/hall. was originally going to augment whatever was there with some china balls or a spacelight, now seeing the place i think i'm going to have to go for something a bit more carefully crafted. going to try to do a single setup that will work from any angle (documentary style so less pressure on polished lighting). features include roof access adjacent to windows and ceiling rig for hanging and plugging in some small kit. very small budget, just a few HMIs or blondes at the best. no idea what those lights are already in the ceiling. i quite want to simulate/augment the sun with a couple of HMIs and then balance that out with something, but im not sure what. obviously got my work cut out if its an overcast day. shooting s16mm, probably 500t. MANY THANKS isaac
  9. Pending sale to a forum member...
  10. Matthew, can i pass your e-mail address to small quantity buyers in europe? If so PM me. Cheers Isaac
  11. Hello, i am looking for some parts to use with my aaton xtera and canon 8-64, i am in the UK Fluid zoom drive for use with 8-64, either clamp or 15mm mount, 200GBP for a nice model lens support, for 15mm rods with a central 1/4inch stud, preferably height adjust but the height is 10mm above rods. 50 for a cheap one, 75 for something nice 15mm rods, >6inch long, with the 3/8" thread (like accessory mount). If anyone knows where i can get these let me know. Any accessories for aaton xtera get in touch and i might be interested. Cheers Isaac
  12. Now i know this isnt an easy one, but i'm just looking for somewhere to start. I'm a fan of incredibly flattering light, painterly, natural and lifelike, and full of subtlety. The new kinoflo look appeals to me, but i prefer a soft glowing look, the kind in classic movies, especially barry lyndon (the "window look"). I'm relatively indifferent to fill but i quite like slight edge/hair light. If anyone has any advice, first of all a go-to kit for lighting locations (tungstens? light control? silks or bounce? scaling it up? lighting in sunshine and overcast outdoors?) and then maybe advice on where i can get an education on this. I dont have access to many sets to shadow, or the time for it, and when i do i'm normally the one expected to be calling the shots... I have absolutely no idea where to start for advice as most of the setups i see discussed are pretty unnatural and over the top. I'm looking for simplicity and quality of light. I'm also wondering especially if someone has a good rule for exposure points on faces, highlights and shadows, and where to place them. I do quite like the hollywood tan and was wondering if this was a matter of exposure, grading or makeup. This goes for natural light situations too, how many stops over does skin look best on s16? Looking forward to your advice! Isaac xxx
  13. Just watched Fruitvale Station and highly recommend it. I'd post the trailer but i think it gives too much away. It won sundance film festival, a bit of a modern ghetto film based on real events.
  14. Offering the camera for 1300 with the following condition: Missing beamsplitter, PAL colour video tap is otherwise functional, optical viewfinder currently receives 100% of light. Aaton mount with arri-B adapter included. Otherwise perfect. The camera was used to shoot this video most recently in its current setup: http://www.vevo.com/watch/we-were-evergreen/false-start/GBUV71400317 This is a great deal for anyone looking to buy a highly functional camera without the bells and whistles, it can upgraded any time to PL mount (les bosher), and the beamsplitter is easily replaced by aim/ice london. Further images:
  15. Sorry to multipost Price for our Aaton XTR kit will be more like 1900 after looking at the current market, repaired beamsplitter included.
  16. Hi Greg, see my post about the Aaton XTR and get in touch. We can cut you a great deal and provide the camera in PL or arri bayonet, hopefully with a working PAL video tap very soon (we are getting the beamsplitter repaired). I'm in England (Leicestershire) so you can come and check it out. Its to your budget and spec. Here's the last thing the camera shot: http://www.vevo.com/watch/GBUV71400317 (Using mk1 superspeeds and fuji 160T) Best regards, Isaac
  17. We are also looking to buy an Xtera kit in europe! Do you know anyone looking to sell this camera? Get in touch!
  18. Hi there, lurker here. Just seeing if there is any interest in a full super 16 XTR kit as i'm looking to upgrade to the Xtera: 3 good mags w/nosecaps, all super 16, magnetic drive 3 batteries (2 recelled, one 16V, ran 40 minutes from a single battery on a shoot last week) 2 Batt auto Charger Leather Barney Aaton mount with adaptor for arri-B -OR- PL hard-conversion Metal covers for mouth and gate (magnetic) Good PAL video tap installed but beamsplitter is missing (100% light to viewfinder). Front hardware including short rails and wooden grip 6-54fps (not prod model) crystal at 24, 25, 30. Probably had better days, but personally run almost 8000ft and no problems whatsoever, incredibly reliable, never lost a shot, never lost sync. Bought from cameramarket.eu, previously privately owned by a documentary cinematographer (used for Lomax the Songhunter, incredible work) Serviceable worldwide (abel in NY, aimimage or panavision in UK, Aaton technicians in Europe etc.) based in UK, will send abroad in a fancy flight case Just testing the waters, but looking for £2400 on a good day, proper pictures on request, and plenty of excellent results to show. Not advertised elsewhere yet. Thanks for looking! Isaac Eastgate

  20. Hi everyone, I have a full set of zeiss mk1 superspeeds in arri bayonet mount, in very good condition, and have been offered a trade for equivalent lenses made by Cinema Products in aaton mount. The camera i use is an aaton xtr in aaton mount and i currently use a les bosher adaptor for the bayonet mount. Does anyone have any knowledge of the quality difference between the two lenses, or the date of production of either? Many thanks Isaac
