  1. Yeah I just heard this is really mess it up!!! check the link to the article http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/news/local/16386330.htm
  2. Great Photo .... I wish the shot the Soccer games in Super 16 ( or film) they will look soo nice!!!
  3. A friend of mine shot a whole feature with the A minima, yeap it was a pain to reload but they had a great workflow that allow them to save tons on film, Some times your work with what they give you .....
  4. Dear Stuart I love your Images.... Great Worked I shot with the Varicam last year and I loved it. Again great work!!!! Best Regards
  5. I believe that as far as 16mm beign obsolete, I think that is not really true, Yes Technology is going forward with HD, but that dosen't mean that film developers like Kodak or Fuji are falling behind, also pioneer companies like Aaton they are delivering new technology that is allowing new forms of film capture, for example the Aminima is a great for all the people that want the feeling of a camcorder in your hand shooting film, now you can do it.... anyway the main point is that technologies keep coming strong, from both ways, Hd is fast and easy but you have to realize that film is also .... I feel that people argue about this nonstop.... trying to make so much sense but the level of their preojects don't change and I feel that that what should matter the most
  6. I do recall Deep Impact .... but besides of originality you guys did a good job.... the shots could be better, the editing more consistant, the sound need it more work, but as an avarege I liked a lot the acting was ok but at the end you guys got me with the perfomance and the bomb was great and solved a lot of the questions that I had script wise.... Good work
  7. Thanks Nathan for your response.... 1) I know where the serial is? but where I can go to find out what year is it? 2) if you where to recommend one wich one you will recommend if tehre is any type of comparission? is the only difference their speed? what about if I get a high speed external motor? is that possible? is that stupid hehehe? I just want a good Super 16 cam that will allow me to go further on my own, I have the chance of getting an Eclair NPr Super 16 with a whole bunch of toys for a fair price, but Aatons where always my favorite cam ( for Super 16 Best
  8. ok great I get an idea know more than ever, hehehe 2 questions, 1) how can I check the serial? 2) How late are the older ones and I guess 3) if the difference is the motor between the 2 plus other stuff.... wich one I can later upgrade to the Xtr? I hope that makes sense Best
  9. Thanks guys I would love to have one of the newest models of a LTR 54 Honeslty but again what I want to know was the differences between the 7 and the 54? let's say the most recent ones ( I know they are old but .... jezzz this english of mine) anyway... please help hehehehe
  10. So both cameras where produced at the same time but along the way the started to do modifications and they vary wich is the best model depending the year?
  11. I'm looking to try one of this 2, what are the differences? I did try an XTR but I can't afford one, and I want to get a Super 16 cam that I can put a nice pl mount to it, plus other stuff. I know some of you are techs, some of your skill will be great on this thread Best
  12. Great job my friend defenetly really good.... the grain was distracting but I agree with Jonathan this could be used for another shots good work
  13. :) Here here Martin. This is off topic, but the movie industry has for the most part turned into a big budgeted B-Movie industry, not too different from the monster movie and Corman days of the 50's through 70's (just bigger budgets and special effects). People just need to start recognizing where the dividing line is. There will always be a B-Movie audience and an "A-Movie" audience, it would just be nice if the B-Movie's weren't so dominant in the marketplace. But that Again is an excuse to continue with the trent of a big monster b movie paris hilton mtv crap sort of filmmaking, there is great line from a b movie that says " If you keep feeding the monster it will never die" Now I'm not saying to stop making films.... o no, but at least agree to make more intelligent filmmaking, I see tons of filmmakers today that have great problems even with continuety with theur projects, And I'm also talking or including those projects that come out in the theaters to... you see a movie today and one from the 80"s and there is a bigger difference than just aestherics! story my friend... alot movies today they just lacked.... an the only excuse that some of them present is that everything is been done.... that is Bull@#%!!! If look into films done outside the USA with much smaller budgets they are far more superior into story and at least enjoyable... like for example the Motorcycle Diaries, they shoot it on Super 16 the crew ( during the trip) where 13 TOPS!!! the used their resources to the max... and the movie paid off greatly... I will leave with this qoute " necessity is the mother of invention" Best
  14. Hey Alfredo if you are interested on a great Mini Super 16 cam you should find out about the Aaton Aminima.... Now that's a camera.... I used the A cam before and it just feels like a toy... and the idea that to have it change to reflex is another 5000 is a joke... look into the Aaton Aminima you will be pleased Best
  15. As I said before .... you don't need the incopentent 10:1 or 20:1 ratio... is a waste.. Again when I go to shoots in LA or in NY an I see this the first thing that I notice is that the director has no clue of what he wants... Honestly is a joke that some people waste so much film on a short film is just funny, again this people are spoiled wasting moneyon great gear for stupid or mediocre productions. That's why you can see what a poor ratio of good films come out of the US every year... If I have to recomend a 2 great films that shoot in a really low ratio and they rock! you should see Swingers and Nine Queens, the last one had so many one takers that was scary for the crew ( I knew some of them).... but again the director knew EXACTLY what he want it....... That's all you need to know Best Regards
  16. OK....here I come... First off all The ikonoskop is not a a great cam... for 6000 you can easly buy an used Arriflex sr, EASLY.... not a box with a horrible lens that isn't even reflex. but the author of this thread said he want it something cheap but good or decent ( isn't that what we all want?) So getting to the point you should get the following cams on Super 16 Aaton LTR ( 7 or the 54 if you get any this beauties cheap and nice they will run great forever and ever) Eclair NPR ( great solid horse, I own one and I love it ) Eclair ACL ( the great solid pony.... so the NPR's little son) CP-16 ( I used own in the past and it almost fell apart, but I got a bad model if you find a good one you will have a cam for a long time...) Arriflex SR ( this guys are great but expensive the same as the Aatons but if you find a decent one GET IT) Anyway those are my 2 cents ( more like 3!) Oh ok I forgot my fourth cent... the K3 is a great little cam or the Kinor Russians made great cams and they are not as bit up as the other ones, since they where release to the world after the cold war.... and they are pretty tough and efficient Good Luck Best
  17. I believe that as a cinematographer, you should assist your director and trust him on his decisions, Now if you feel insecure about what he wants, just let him know and research toghether... for what you are saying I did some experimenations like that before with various formats, shooting 16 will the best option... but again we ( including yourself) don't know what the director wants. Wish you luck and if you want to experiemnt you should do some shoots to a screen with a digital 24p cam Best
  18. hey olex do you have any footageor still that you can share of the fish eye kinor 4.5mm?
  19. I would love to se some images done with it .... I myself I'm going to get a 5.9mm for underwater use so I would love to see something similiar to it best

  21. I have no idea... but I think there like clenears and what ever you find ina tool kit the cool thing about this kit is taht there is a plate for a whole bunch of mounts included a pl mount is really nice ....
