  1. I just got a pretty good quote on a C-Reality. How would you say this machines does with b&w 16mm? As well as the Spirit?
  2. Ahhh... I see. Thanks for the help! -rene
  3. John, Thank you very much for your reply, but allow me to ask for a further simplification: what qualitative difference can one expect to see between a Spirit Datacine or an old Rank Cintel? Best, Rene
  4. So, I assume that there are no special considerations if I'm telecineing B&W? Anyone? Thanks.
  5. I'm on the hunt for a good telecine house in Los Angeles for my 7222. I have 2 questions concerning this: a) Are there specific telecine systems that are better suited for b&w work as opposed to color? B) Can anyone recommend a place in or near Los Angeles? Thank you in advance for you input. -rene brar
  6. NEW ORDER's "Perfect Kiss" video directed by Jonathan Demme. It doesn't get any simpler, more elegant, or bad-ass.
  7. Scott, That's very cool of you. I checked out your videos and articles - it's very helpful to newbies like me who are woking on a microscopic budget. Thanks.
  8. Hi everyone, I just bought an Eclair ACL with the heavy duty motor, and I have two questions: 1) Besides the knob on the side of the motor, there is a small switch that lets you toggle between crystal speeds 24 & 25fps but it's not labelled on my motor. Anyone know which is which? 2) I ran some film through the 200ft mag and it worked fine at speeds 24/25fps or slower. But when I ran the motor at 50 or 75 fps, the film would advance for a second and then just stop altogether. After taking the mag off, the motor ran fine at those high speeds so I'm guessnig there's a problem with my loops. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks for your help. Best, Rene
  9. I always enjoy David Cronenberg's credits, particularly CRASH and DEAD RINGERS.
  10. Having worked at a commercial production company before, I can say that they're just looking at your talent, not the product that you're selling. I've seen reels that feature ads for fictional products, but they get noticed because they're made so damn well. If the Lotus makes for a better ad, go with the Lotus. If the Saab will give you a better ad, go with the Saab. My two cents... -rene
  11. Check out this link: members.aol.com/Super16ACL great info on the ACL.
