  2. Things are getting hairy in the US....none of us know from day to day what will happen with our economy (except for the ones who got us here in the first place ) ...I'd say we are both screwed. Being a freelancer in these times are not good right now... :(
  3. What FCP are you using? Wonder if you should trash your preferences for it and restart it.
  4. This is a good lil topic thanks for starting this..... Well I actually am into wildlife photography. I enjoy birds quite a bit, mostly the raptors. I have mostly redtail hawks in my yard and a coopers hawk will come by for a meal now and then. I also like the coyotes that will come by to visit and eat some scraps we throw out for any creature that is hungry. The fun part about birding is identifying each bird. Sometimes you only get a split second as they fly by in a blur. But also getting a good still shot too. If you have kids this is something really cool to get them in to. Hummingbirds are the coolest though. I've got thousands of pics of those little things. My other interest is golf!!! Got to tell ya its one of the best sports out there. Very hard to do but you have to stick with it for at least a year to see some changes. I've been playing for 15 years. I also am a professional bass player . I play mostly classic rock and country music. Been playing for 30 years now. And what else in this techno world.... surfing the web, now that is addicting.... lol ....have a great shoot everybody...take care. Tony Beazley
  5. Hi Bruno just clicked on the performance music video.. was the gain up or on zero...did you bring it up at all in FCP... nice and clean...very nice job... stock fuji lens? Thanks Tony
  6. That sure is a clean looking picture. Is that with the JVC110 or the new one? And is that with a prime lens or is that the stock that came with it? Thanks Tony
  7. My friends Sony VX 2100 went down last week and thankfully it wasn't my fault since it had been just sitting in my house for the last month. When I turned it on to use it I noticed a weird freen WB and strange effect of vertical red streaks. It looks just like a light leak on a super 8 camera. It is a very cool retro effect but thats all you can do with the camera. Sony will give you till Oct. 2 2007 to get your camera in for a FREE repair. I do know that this affects the ZR series from Canon. There is also pda's affected. I googled and found some websites about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY46IyMgoJc Hope this helps some folks cause there is no recall out about this. Tony B.
  8. Looking forward to your in depth articles and jpgs on this one Walter... :)
  9. Mitch what was the massive let down you encountered? Thanks Tony B.
  10. Now and then a shot is called for that will need to have a bird soaring over head. Just saw on a nationwide Toyota commercial of how they are expressing the need for better exhaust emissions for the environment. They show the forest and a deer and then a bird soaring...then I notice its a turkey vulture. Yes they look like a hawk from far away but on this shot ITS A VULTURE. I know it is a living breathing animal but I'm pretty sure they were thinking something more elegant . Here are a picture of each and they are small so as to show the effect of how confusing it can be . I have been a wildlife photographer for 15 years and being a DP and seeing someone use a vulture when they are talking about a hawk ....it's like I wish they would've done their homework on the subject. It's just something that I keep spotting a few times a year. Tony B Turkey Vulture Redtail Hawk(please notice the red tail feathers)
  11. I live in Nashville. Trust me its 50/50.There's good guys and bad guys on both sides. I meet them everyday and work with them on music and film. Some of them think they are hot poop and some know they are not- referring to musicians here. There are more snobs on the music side of this town than on the video side ....even worse are the producers...they don't even say hi to God. lol
  12. Jim, I must say that is a good idea there. I have always wanted to say with all the many smart technical photographers on this list as well as the rest of the internet "WE" could make one heck of a camera for ourselves. Why should we wait on a company(s) to get around to finally wanting to add a new button after years of sitting on their laurels when we could go forward every day with the knowledge that we have on this forum. With the ideas that run rampant in all our minds from shooting for years and wanting a better film or video camera we should try to progress our selves and not wait for the big machines to wake up from their slumber. If we know what we want , lets make it. Tony B.
  13. Ok maybe some of you DPs have run into this before. I hope not though. I shot a doc about the american biker 4 years ago for a ok sum. My friend talked me into going to shoot it with him. I must say we had a blast cause I love bikes and being in Daytona at bike week was one great perk. But we did work 24/7 for 2 weeks. No time for play. But the documentary that I signed a contract to shoot soon turned into 3 seperate different videos later that year, after they did their editing back in Hollywood . I must say that this seems to be unfair to me and my DP partner who took on the job and we were the entire crew. We were told this is one video. We got paid one time but then 3 entirely different docs came out of it. And they have won several awards around the world at all kinds of festivals which is very cool. Never once did I nor my DP partner get a thanks or a mention or get asked to go to one of the festivals. This is what makes me sic of this business sometimes. ( ok maybe just sic of the cheap ass directors and producers, not the business) I think that DPs should bring their own contract for the Director/Producer to sign and agree that if this shoot turns into another saleable video later down the line than what is stated, then the DP will get paid twice for his work. Maybe a percentage? (this pertains to documentaries) Three for one sounds great at Walmart but not when it comes to my work day and pay check. Guys we do work hard... especially when the director doesn't do their job and we have to jump in and do their job too so the production will get done on time. Tony B I hope I am not out of line on this subject I apologize if I am.
  14. Did anyone see the BSU and OSU game on the 10th on FSN? I was totally blown away by the superb picture!!! Out of 10 channels of football games this game picture was 5 times better. The color and saturation were absolutley amazing. The sharpness was beyond astonishing. I'm watching the replay right now to see the credits hopefully. I'm not sure if they ran this through a processor but I sure would like to get one of theoe cameras. It looks as sharp as hooking a camera straight to a monitor! I am viewing on a standard 19" tv. No Hd!!!!! just regular tv. Tony B
  15. I understand what everyone has said and I do appreciate the feedback. Well my glasses are always fogging up bad and they just seem to get in the way alot. And they always get scratched no matter how much of that no-scratch stufff they put on them. Really if I take them off I am totally blind!!! I cannot see a persons face passed 6 ft. away. If I drop something small on the floor and if I'm having a "bad" eyesight day (some are better than others) and I don't have my glasses on I have to actually get down knee high to the floor to see it. It sucks!!! And I am a DP and still photographer. AARRGGHH I'm starting to feel like Mr. Magoo. I just wanted to see what all you guys thought about it. I wll be going to a real eye doctor(opthamologist) to get a check up. Maybe I will try contacts again. The quest continues..... Thanks for all the post on the subject. Thanks Tony B
  16. I have been thinking about doing this for the last 3 years. Has anyone had the lasik operation? Would you recommend it? I have been wearing glasses for 25 years now. It has its plus and minuses. The glasses have saved my eyes from flying objects and such. I got a yard stick out and after about 10 inches from my eyes it starts to get really blurry. Being a DP and messing with our eyes is a scary thing to think about. I just wanted some thoughts from other photographers and DP's. Thanks Tony B
  17. Haven't gotten anything in the mail from JVC in about 5 years. Then today Bammm!! they sent the brochure for the HD 100.They have a "actual size" pull out poster for it! Wow it's sooooo nice it makes you want to grab for your checkbook!! I also read more info on the actual conversion to interlaced video. I still have questions on that one. Will the camera do it or only the BR-HD50 player/recorder that they also added to the brochure perform this task? In the specs it said it did record in 60i. Still waiting for more info and actual viewing of some material. Tony B
  18. Thank you David. I really do appreciate your help. :) Tony B
  19. David it was way to late at night to write about what I was thinking... sorry about that :) Is it better to go ahead and shoot in 60i or 30p(frame mode) to match up with other cameras that will come out in the next few years as well as from an editing view point? I will be shooting a doc that will span over the next 4-6 years at least. I'm just thinking about the end product and how good the cameras will be then. I will at least shoot in 16x9.And there will probably be other DP's that wil shoot also. I can only get a sony vx 2100 for this week. Thanks Tony B.
  20. <<Producers (like me :) ) don't care anymore if they have to hire PAs And college students to operate cameras...they'll save money... And the great part is that people will still watch the crap... And as we all know it's the ratings not the quality that really matter.>> __________________________________________________________ And this is why we the professionals don't get hired... the "no need for experience" mentality..... and they bought their cameras at Walmart too I'm sure to shoot the show. ..... what ever happened to hiring quality and craftsmenship for an actual broadcast show.....
