Auto shut off after 3 seconds (add expletives, good ones)
David Edward Keen replied to David Edward Keen's topic in D-SLR
It's 32GB up to 85MB/ss, class 10 -
So in video mode on my t3i, after 3 seconds or so, sometimes after more time, it stops recording and tells me " The recording was stopped automatically." I was told the read/write speed on my SD card us too low, get a faster card. I did. It was fine. Then, just as I yell action, boom. Same crap. So I don't get it. Neither do the talent. I was considering tapping the camera with a sledgehammer, but then I thought of Mr. Rogers, so I thought I'd ask youz guys

"Primo zooms equipped with rear-mounted anamorphic optics." (Google) Rear of the lens?
-
Wow, it might be, but as important is I gotta learn about these anamorphic lenses, especially the rear anamorphic adapted telephoto lens. "Rear" and "front" describe the position of....?

cool thanks guys. -
If you've created a two shot on the couch, in a flat space, camera 90ยบ to the talent, isn't it reasonable to say that if you start moving the camera you'll lose the flatness by revealing perspective of objects? If enough of the couch is shown, (camera static) wouldn't it reveal perspective and "spoil" the flatness? Am I confused?

mixed lighting not for effect

I have a man with dark brown skin sitting next to a man with "white" skin on a brown couch in a scene. (white wall right behind that i was considering backlighting to another color) Should I have any concern about lighting dark brown man with a warmer tungsten key and simultaneously keying the "white" man next to him with a cooler light? My intent is not to identify the different colors of the lights but simply to light differing skin colors to bring out the qualities. All this in a scene which is overall low key and warm. It's been suggested that if i flag the two sources nicely, it'll work out fine. Just wanna check here to see what's typically done in these types of 2 shots/

like a tight rock band

Oh, so the time saved by a tight crew can be given to things like adjusting the story?
-
" PTA is known to rely on tight crews and ensembles of actors because it allows him to give the actors room to adjust the story. His scripts are his own, so he has no loyalty to their word over their intent." _____ What is meant by "tight crew" here and how does that connect to "having room to adjust the story"?

Great thanks

He was talking about talking with the DP and shooting in digital in an article and said: "...Sometimes I can barely see it on the set, but with digital, I can always see it on the monitor. We can rate the camera at 2,000 and the camera somehow responds." What does rating a camera mean ? What is the unit on the number 2,000? Thanks!

Satanic Backdrop question.
David Edward Keen replied to David Edward Keen's topic in Visual Effects Cinematography
honestly i think i'll forget about effects and try to say it with camera angle, lighting, movement etc. it's too easy for it to become cheesy. although some large amount of cheese could be justified, as the tune is about Satan coming over and stealing this guy's weed!- 7 replies

Satsuki, I thought 180 degree shutter angle is equal to 1/48 shutter speed? Confusing. If you can recommend a book to help learn that which is learnable through reading, perhaps it'll help me when I'm experimenting with the lights and camera -
