  1. Problem is I would prefer have them all in PL-mount instead of switching lenses constanly. And maybe I can get a good deal converting a whole set of lenses. And right now I am just looking for a 9,5-18 range... To cover C
  2. Well it isn't cheap. But for a fully funtional F1.6 lens it is a good deal, 1500 dollars in fact. C
  3. Then maybe my lens maker is lying, but he actually confirmed there is no issue for him to convert the C-mount to a PL. He actually manufactures new housing for the lens and has been converting lenses since mid-70s so maybe he the new housing can fit the distance... C
  4. So I am trying to figure out if there is anyone that has shoot on this that I can look at. I have a really good lens maker that could probably convert 2 switars for a good price to make them cine-worthy (PL-mount and bigger barrel). I am just curious how the sharpness turn out and afraid of differention in color. C
  5. Thanks for the links. Question I have now is trying to figure out the mount of the viewfinder. Or are they all the same? C
  6. Hi there, I have seen several thread on video taps, but all seems a bit outdated, and the information slighlty old. I recently invest in S16 myself and got myself and Eclair ACL. However I imagine this solution to be working for ANY S16 camera. I was wondering the best way to build your own video tap, instead of taking it apart. Some attach cameras to the viewfinder, others attach cameras on top of the lens (I have actually seen this). My idea is a bit more simple. Amazon sells these microscope cameras. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MV53HMU/ref=s9_wsim_gw_g328_i1_r?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=6HAC28RV4BNQ8TXFSE3V&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=6aad23bd-3035-4a40-b691-0eefb1a18396&pf_rd_i=desktop They have a C/CS-mount. Now if you make a nut that can tighten this to the attachment of the viewfinder, would that not work as a solution. Yes you would loose the viewfinder, but you would gain a video assist. Now If you planned using this for your operator, could you not invest in a EVF (like a Zacuto or a cineroid) and still have it as a video tap? Or a m I missing something? C
  7. Update: So I have found this microscope camera that can run of a 12v. It also comes with a HDMI built in. Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MV53HMU/ref=s9_wsim_gw_g328_i1_r?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=desktop-1&pf_rd_r=6HAC28RV4BNQ8TXFSE3V&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=6aad23bd-3035-4a40-b691-0eefb1a18396&pf_rd_i=desktop Now thic makes it even possible to use an EVF with the ACL and by doing so, having a monitor coming out or that. But question is this, is it as simple as “just” making an attachment for the camera to fit in the videwfinder groves, or do I need some typ of prism to make the image correct? //C
  8. I found someone that modifies the Tokina 11-20 to full manual as well. It is T3.1 but still a decent lens. So I might go for that. C
  9. Hi Volker, I am not planning skip using the 9-57. It is more of a future plans. Since money is tight investments should be planned like 8 months ahead ? C
  10. Hi everyone, Like a few on this forum I am a student filmmaker, trying to get the most for the least amount of money as always. Luckily the ACL-mount leaves some wiggle room when it comes to the lenses you can buy. So I hav decided to go with Nikon F-mount, but I want to fit modern lenses. Now I have found a company that converts the Sigma 18-35 F 1.8 (which has gotten good reviews) to a fully manual lens, with aperture control. But that only gets me so far. The 18mm lens would be an effective 35-36 since the S16 crop so I am trying to cover the rest of the focal lengths. Now I have an idea, purchasing a Tokina 11-20 F2.8 (T3) and use that. But since this is a modern DX lens, it will not allow for altering the aperture. Now the solution here that I am thinking is just getting a very good variable ND and shooting at 2.8 constantly for wide shots. There should not be too much focus pulling anyways. But maybe someone here could shine some more light on my problem. I really really love the 18-35 though, hence I was pretty quick choosing the Nikon mount... C
  11. I have a new idea for the ACL and it is about mount DC/ Crop sensor EOS lens to it. No matter the math you make that market is very saturated and you can get a very decent lens for a few hundred dollars. But now I am looking for a place to make a custom adapter for it. An EOS to ACL mount adapter, with aperature control. The solution right now is EOS to C Mount to ACL, but the heavier lenses you put, the more scared I get about the mount itself. //C
  12. I have been trying to figure this out for myself, but it seems a bit complicated. Which filters fit for the ACL 1 filter slot? I have been considering adding the standard .3 to .9 NDs to my kit but I can't find the right size. C
  13. Www.ebay.com/itm/282021114678 Would this one be a working alternative? Or the Canon 16.5-95mm C mount? //C
  14. Price point mainly. Getting PL-glass (while it might be amazing) is very expensive, and I am trying to do this on a slightly tight budget.... C
  15. It wasn't too bad of a price but I haven't received my camera yet. So I feel that ship has sailed. Besides, the Veydra set seems to do a good image for 4500 dollars. C
  16. Hi Gregg, Yeah, the ACL is on the way to me now. Luckily I managed to get it sent to Mr Bosher before, so it will be in pristine condition as it arrives here. Well, 4-500 is a good price, but when I spoke straight to Spectrum they said it was a 3 thousand dollar job because have to take the camera apart completly. I would love a video tap, but A, I want someone that I trust to take it apart, and B, I don't have 3000 Monitor isn't the problem really, I have great equipment that I use with the Alexa/Sony F5 now, and that is actually what makes this a little interesting. The videotap would be in HD. I wish there was a way to have split on the videwfinder though so I don't have to reattach the camera every time we do steadicam. But that is a small time wast that I can deal with. I know I don't need it. But selling film to our producers and directors at school is hard enough as it is. Telling them the shot looks amazing without showing is going to be a tough cookie... C
  17. I know I am waking an old thread but some years have passed and technology has gotten more advanced. Me and my operator have been talking about a solution to be used on steadicam, for him to be able to work properly. We have shot endlessly on the SRs and the 416, but now since I am starting my own kit, we are trying to solve this ourselves. A Spectrum video asists is out of the question because of cost. But the solution with a microscope camera is an idea I think might work. http://www.amazon.com/Mustcam-Microscope-10x-220x-magnification-supported/dp/B00T5UBJHO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1462166836&sr=8-3&keywords=microscope+camera+hdmi This microscop camera has HDMI straight out, as well as runs on 5V. So we are thinking of a solution that runs the actual video tap through V-mount battery, and then connect the microscope directly to our monitor. Thankfully we also have access to a 3d-printer through our school, so I will try to make a sort of adapter to attach the camera to the eyepiece as simple as possible. The beauty of this setup is that with a good monitor and a terradek this can be used for video village as well. Best solution however would be having something that attaches to the acutal viewfinder, splitting the image so operator can use it when he shooting normally as well. But I think this is step 1. Best regards Carl
  18. Is that a special viewfinder? I have been considering altering my ACL to attach a microscope camera, preferably like this, but realistically the best way would be to mount it to the actual eyepiece (for when my operator uses the steadicam). C
  19. Well, I think changing mount isn't an economical option for me right now. He is already spending time giving the camera an overhaul, so I am hoping there won't be any issues with that first. M43 will be next step to ask for, I guess. C
  20. I don't mean to wake up and old thread. But I am on my way to get my own Eclair ACL. My operator would love to use it for steadicam as well and I am trying to figure out the easiest way to do this. Especially now when Microscopes with HDMI has gone down in price. Like this one http://www.amazon.com/Mustcam-Microscope-10x-220x-magnification-supported/dp/B00T5UBJHO/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1461791193&sr=8-4&keywords=microscope+camera+hdmi C
  21. I think the Veydra cine primes will be my best bet. for 1200 you can get a T2.2 12 mm c-mount. C
