  1. I hate millenials ugh millenails are runing this counyry my son is dead

  2. depends on the pres within the device itself. If your tape device has no gain control then it might be a good idea to pass it through a full preamp providing proper gain. If the tape device DOES have gain control, a simple $20 Phantom power supply will work.
  3. I lost weight by eating too much Taco Bell

  4. Is it true that certain archives were using Betamax tapes up until the 2010's?
  5. Been thinking about this for a while. Like many of you, I remember consumer video before DSLR. I would see higher end online productions and film students use something like bulky XDCAMs with the mounted mics and kit zoom lens, or for those with less money, the standard consumer hand-sized digital camcorders. Things like documentaries/interviews/web videos seem to have been taken over by cameras which have the capability of a "film" look. Two brands in specific I don't see getting anymore buzz are JVC and Panasonic. Since I've been here, I haven't seen a thread considering that old form factor of camera unless it was for budget purposes. So am I going crazy or will iPhones and DSLR/Digital Cinema cameras replace the JVC camcorders I keep seeing in the B&H catalog? Thanks.

  7. What makes a good film in general? There's your answer. Also this:
  8. I've written a sizable amount of instructional videos for things like voice over and DSLR stuff. Also have a following on Youtube/Twitter/Patreon that would be happy to check the site out if they saw I was helping out. I could write articles for younger film students trying to figure out what camera to buy or what to budget for, perhaps a comedic twist for a lighter read. If you're exclusively looking for "industry stories" it would be ignorant of me to offer a hand unless you were interested in the online industry. PM me if you'd like to collaborate.
  9. You're saying with this new classification or always? Our legal system has bit too much on its plate to worry about batteries in the mail.
  10. Just drained a Sony battery all over my garbage son please call someone

  11. Pretty much out of the loop here. I've shipped a hundred small Lithium Ion batteries through USPS over the years and no one's ever had a problem. Is it really that bad? The post office is the only cost-effective way I have of shipping certain things.
  12. Reviving this 4 years later, Nike Air Max works, also may seem excessive but try a pair of Jordans that feature that inner-sock material (Jordan 7s for instance) which wraps around your foot so the impacts and pressures aren't irregular. It upsets me how good looking shoes are never made for people with wide feet (me). But when you spend over $100 for a pair of athletic sneakers that fit right, your feet will be the very last of your worries. You're also getting many more years out of them too.
  13. Eminem is the best rapper because I shaved my head and hate everything

  14. I can't speak on behalf of Tyler or whoever (again credits to him for actually answering the original question), but I'm simply stating that people need to recognize talent even if they aren't a fan. Also I don't think Tyler was jabbing at RobRod, being an innovator in "saving money" is a compliment where I come from. But I highly doubt that'll be your last post. If it is, it's really funny that you'd leave a pretty nice forum just over that.
  15. The following is the greatest advice of 2016: Stop watching Youtube movie reviewers.
  16. If you think a small performance can " nearly ruin" a movie, you might need to reconsider some things lol.
  17. Yeah they're pretty awesome ...If you're a dad.
  18. Gotta know how to respect and appreciate the greats' techniques to achieve greatness yourself. He isn't like an Avengers director that aims for the surface of action appeal (which still needs the right kind of talent as well), he's a genius who translates screenwriters' concepts so well, that everyone wants him on their film. He makes the concept of "think about the plot" a lowest common denominator thing. VERY hard to do. For example, I don't have anything too kind to say about the picture "Her", however I can view a scene and pick up on how Jonze is pacing/shooting/cutting/instructing on a higher level than the industry standard, a standard in which the vast majority of people attempting this industry never even get to.
  19. Please, for the love of god, have a serious segment on audio engineering and ADR. It has to be THE most overlooked aspect among film students.
  20. I took 15mg of oxycodone for a sore throat

  21. I'm trying to convince my friend to quit rehab, if you have suggestions please PM me

  22. Tell that to Muggsy Bouges, wiseguy.
  23. Something I've come to appreciate about Rodriguez as a filmmaker is that even after fame and fortune, his style and subject matter is still in tune with the Texan-Mexican community he came from. Friends I've met who grew up on the Mexican border say he implants a ton of their culture into his work in a beautiful way.
  24. You, Stuart, etc. are extremely knowledgeable and passionate on the subject of film and I have respect for all of you. Was just making a light joke on the fact that a lot of threads here can get a bit... unraveled.
