  1. I think I must have an arri 16SB, one of the ports has a stainless steel liner and the lenses I have seem to mount into this port with a little more security. More information, I have seen on eBay, some arri lenses which were inexpensive. they were advertised as being 35mm lenses. I take that to mean that they would fit a 35mm camera and would not be compatible with an arri 16 SB. they were PL mount and looked like the PL mount could be removed. I have seen some some lenses for an arri 16 which had PL mounts. They also looked like the PL mount could be removed to reveal an arri standard mount lens. Also, I probably would be better off if I saved for an arri standard mount lens. They seem expensive, however.
  2. Is it possible to convert an arri PL mount lens to fit an arri 16st standard lens cavity? thanks to all michael leake
  3. does anyone have any arri 16 s 200' capacity film magazines with torque motors for sale? thanks Michael Leake
  4. quite an old posting, if you come across any 200' arri 16s film magazine again or know who might have any including torque motors, can you let me know?? thanks michael leake
  5. I may have found some arri 16 S magazine in 200' capacity. I do not know if they come with torque motors.
  6. is there anyone who has one of these (arriflex 16 S 200' magazine and torque motor) and if so how much?? Thanks Michael Leake
  7. Charlie Peich: International Cinema Equipment a division of Magna-Tech Electronic co. base in Florida is selling what they claim to be 200' arri 16s film magazines. While they will hold 200' of film, they don't appear to be dedicated 200' magazines. The footage counters all indicate a maximum of 500'. So if anyone wants just a dedicated 200', these are not those.
  8. If anyone can post a picture of an arri 16s 200’ magazine next to a 400’ magazine I would very much appreciate it
  9. Mik Cribben; Thanks for this information. At this time I am unable to purchase this very interesting piece of equipment. Michael Leake
  10. Repaired bellows for my 16s. They were $85., bent with no end rod bracket support, made that and straightened the bellow frames. perfect now
  11. hopefully there are photos of the battery pack I have completed for my arri 16s. It has 2 15.4v, 5 amp lithium hard shell batteries as input power. I can switch between the two batteries without power shut down. The output can be adjusted from 2v, to 15v. I have them set at 8.5v.. I have two power ports, one for my original arri cable and one custom built for another cable I made. As of yet, I have no idea what the time duration for filming on my arri.
  12. Charlie Piech: Why 18fps. 1. extend my film supply. (maybe my 1 minute) 2. get the feel of my childhood movies taken on my 8mm Kodak Brownie.(I could probably get that by filming on an 8mm camera) 3. To see what the quality of 18fps vs 24fps. 4. just to play around.
  13. Feya; I do not know if the Arri motor I have is crystal sync or not hopefully the pics will tell
  14. to anyone: Has Arri ever made a constant speed 18fps motor?? Has any one converted a constant speed 24fps to an 18fps???? I know I would be better with a Tobin crystal, but it is out of my budget at this time.
  15. Post pictures. I will post pics as soon as I can out how to do that!
  16. Mark, congratulations! My arriflex 16S is working very well. I have 2 motors i need to rebuild. I custom built a battery pack. I have to sling it in a bag right now. it is not belt wearable (that will be in the future). It has two 14.1 volt, 5 amp lipo batteries I bought from eBay. They are connected to a voltage regulator which steps them down from fully charged 15.4v to an adjustable 8.35 volt out put. I can also switch from one battery to another. I have no idea how long the arri 16 will run before I need to recharge them. That will be in the future. Right now the camera runs. Michael Leake
  17. Charlie Peich In a post on Cinematography.com, dated Jan 07, 2017, near the end of an article when you commented about arri wild motors, I found the below reference: this Sam Wells: "Arri S and 16BL segment the mirror itself with a small stripe so you see your "48 flicks" so to speak in the viewfinder but this has no effect on how the film is exposed when the shutter is open." this answers my question!
  18. If anyone has a light cover (the hinged kind) for the viewfinder on a Arriflex 16 S, how much? Thanks Mike Leake
  19. IF any one has a light cover (the kind which flips closed or open) for an arri 16 s viewfinder, how much, please? Thanks Mike Leake
  20. Charlie, Thanks. This information is exactly what I needed. As to why? Mostly curiosity, and I was considering the possibility of constructing a variable speed motor with precise speed setting. Yes I should just try and get a Tobin motor, however that is not in my budget at this time. I also like the tinkering. I do have two possibly serviceable power belts. They are in need of re-celling and I am working on that. I have the Arri 16 working (cleaned, lubricated and back together) and will be making a short demo test film to see how the rebuild actually went. This will probably take some time. I have to test some telecine techniques first. I did build a temporary power supply with supplies and parts from ebay. I has 8, 1.5 D batteries and I have a variable potentiometer in the circuit to step it down from 12v, to 8v. We will see. Thanks for all the information again. Mike Leake
  21. I did some very ballpark calculations and arrived at 2100 rpm's for the operating speed on an Arri variable speed motor driving film at 24 fps. anyone else with better math(I HOPE)
  22. Arriflex 16s: does anyone know how many rpm's on a variable or fixed speed arri motor are needed to get 24fps? thanks to anyone. M.L. I made a 12v power pack for my arri 16,(it powers the camera with film in it.) however I have to put a resistor or potentiometer in the circuit to step down to 8v.
