  1. My library had lots of old DVD copies of VHS movies. One day it sunk in...I'm old, what am I waiting for, not much time left to screw around, If I can afford it buy the best I can afford to watch, why not do it? So I dumped the old DVD copies of VHS and moved onto commercial DVDs and bluray, I also get lots of DVDs from the library so that helps with cost. If I was rich, no doubt I'd constantly upgrade to better IQ material, if the move would be a noticeable change. Like anything else, it all revolves around $$. I wouldn't care, I'd buy the upgrades and donate the old media to the library to recycle.
  2. That is a good reply for 2019. I'm underground, so my reply may not be appropriate in 2019 OP. I operate under the auspices of...if it is legal I do as I like.
  3. Yes, try for a real dead cat if you can get one without killing it. If you live in an area that is conducive to roadkill you can pick them up sometimes...but not on demand. When you film is done lets see a clip of the dead cat.
  4. I made a CD-R video recording 15 years ago with a Terapin CD video recorder. A test on 1.4.19 showed no visible deterioration of the content. Full report: https://danieldteolijrarchivalcollection.wordpress.com/2019/01/14/15-year-cd-r-archival-burn-test/

  8. Good article on entertainment / movie industry workers living as urban boondockers in their vehicles. L.A.'s Housing Crisis Hits Hollywood: The Entertainment Workers Living in Their Cars Even by Los Angeles standards, Noelle spends a lot of time worrying about parking. A writers room production assistant for a major streamer and script reader for a premium cable network, Noelle wakes up at 6 a.m. on weekdays to secure a spot close to her jobs in West L.A. After work, she moves her white, unassuming Ford Transit to another spot, carefully chosen to be located in a non-residentially zoned area without nightly parking restrictions and far away from any schools, daycare facilities or parks. She is constantly rotating these "day spots" and "night spots," as she calls them, so as not to annoy neighbors or attract too much attention. These days, Noelle jokes, she's more worried about a cop knocking on her window than getting "murdered or attacked." https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/features/meet-entertainment-workers-living-cars-housing-crisis-1169781
  9. Don't let the clip or knife show. It has to be concealed in NYC.
  10. 100 photos taken at The Run-On of Time exhibit of Eugene Richards photos, screen shots of films and ephemera at the ICP in NYC. Also some screen shots from his films. https://photographyshowarchive.art.blog/2019/01/11/eugene-richards-the-run-on-of-time-icp-nyc-set-1-of-2/ This is set 1 of 2. I have a circular fisheye set I will post later when I find the photos.

  14. I finished up editing the Araki show posts from the MoSEX show. Here is the overview with links to the other parts. WordPress gives me a hassle when I upload tons of photos to one post so I had to make separate posts. NSFW The Incomplete Araki: Sex, Life, and Death in the Works of Nobuyoshi Araki https://photographyshowarchive.art.blog/2019/01/04/the-incomplete-araki-an-overview-mosex-nyc/ edit......I just noticed that I forgot to make a post on the video clips from the show, so will have to do them. It is a pain in the ass having to make all separate posts. Too much for my pea brain to handle. I prefer to do it all at once in one big monster post. Next week I hope to edit the Irving Penn show photos I shot at the Met a few years back. But sadly, it looks like I may have lost some of the photos.
  15. Night Fever Exhibition of late 70's disco era photos by Bill Bernstein at the Museum of Sex, Manhattan Studio 54, Crisco Disco, Fun House, Paradise Garage, Xenon... 16. Circular Fisheye Photography from ‘The Incomplete Araki: Sex, Life, and Death in the Works of Nobuyoshi Araki’ at the Museum of Sex, NYC I was going to make a big post on the Araki show, but after the mess I had with Andy Warhol on WordPress I decided to break it up into a few smaller posts. NSFW https://photographyshowarchive.art.blog/2018/12/31/circular-fisheye-photography-from-the-incomplete-araki-sex-life-and-death-in-the-works-of-nobuyoshi-araki-at-the-museum-of-sex-nyc/
  17. I shot this show in mid-dec. Probably one of the largest shows of Warhol out side of the Warhol Museum. Took up a few floors of the Whitney. Sadly 181 photos seems too much for WordPress to handle in a single upload. The entire series was jumbled up and a few photos failed to upload. Still, it is a good representation of the show and the Whitney... NSFW - some of Warhol's work involves nudes. https://photographyshowarchive.art.blog/2018/12/27/warhol-from-a-to-b-and-back-whitney-museum/ Eventually I will put the series on the Internet Archive. But you can't view them easily there. They must be downloaded due to file size and number of images. In the future I will have to break down large projects into many smaller volumes at WordPress.

  21. Just have it exchanged. It produces low end usable images. You may have got a bad one. Yes, good for previewing / deciding on what to send out to get done. Also gives you something of a back-up if your original gets lost in the mail. You set a timer when doing reels and come back near the end. No need to sit there. Although if there is an issue and it jams, it will eat up the sprockets.
  22. I had no idea that my pocket knife (2-7/8" blade) was illegal in NYC. Here is video... If you want to be safe, carry a small fixed blade knife. Bottom line...if ANYONE can open your knife one handed...you go to jail. I've been working on borrowed time for years in NYC and didn't know it.
