  1. When using the preset, you have two choices: Indoor or outdoor white balance. To switch between the two you press the small button around the corner from the gain switch, marked "AWB". Personally, I like setting the "A" WB setting as auto. Helps me remember. -BillP
  2. Like the others stated. If your gonna be shooting SD for a couple more years, get the DVX. FYI, the DVX100B has been announced, and should be shipping any day now. If you want to score the rebate deal with the DVX100A, you better act quick. -BillP
  3. I would record in color. But monitor in black and white. During shooting, using the production monitor, you can turn down, or turn up the chroma and get a sense of how it will look either way. -BillP
  4. I use my"cheapo" DCR-TRV33 mini-DV SONY camera as my deck. I use it for DVX 24p footage all the time. In fact, I'm currently cutting a short for a friend that was shot on the DVX. I just finished logging 6 hours of footage. Only problems were some tape dropouts, but those were there when I tried using a DSR-11 at work as well. I agree with it being a pain to hook up the camera every time you want to edit. But it works. -BillP
