  1. My greatest shot would have to be in Man on Fire which was shot by Paul Cameron. Towards the end of the movie it is a extreme long shot with Denzel on the bridge. At the top of the frame is a beautiful sky full of clouds, in the middle on the bridge is Denzel and at the bottom is beautiful green grass. On of the best shots I have gazed upon in my entire life. 2. Whenever I shoot outside I just use reflectors and bounce cards. Everyone else said it best just schedule your wide shots at certain time and then do your inserts whenever. I have never used a 12k or 18k but I have still got good pictures. Just schedule and pray. Hope this helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
  3. If the room is pitch black then how is the camera going to pick up your image you want to portray. You have to have light coming from somewhere. Mario Concepcion Jackson
  4. Just shoot as much as you possibly can. Shoot, shoot, and keep on shooting. Mario Concepcion Jackson
  5. I have never shot on a Arri-235 but I have shot on a Aaton. They are very light and easy to use in handheld situations. Hope this helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
  6. I thought Mauro Fiore was the original dp for Mission Impossible 3 but when I went to the movies it said Dan Mindel. I while back on imdb it said that Fiore was the dp but now it says Dan Mindel. Does anyone knows what happened? Thanks Mario Conceocion Jackson
  7. A trick that I always use is to take a reading with the net and then a reading without the net and just see where to compensate at. Hope this helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
  8. Man just be yourself and be confident in who you are. Mario Concepcion Jackson
  9. The camera route is not the only way to go. You can also go the grip or electric route. Which is the route I am currently taking (electric). Mario Concepcion Jackson
  10. Guys thanks so much for all your help. Hoopefully Mitch and I can post some frames up once everything is finished. Thanks Mario Concepcion Jackson
  11. Hey guys I am shooting a small short on the JVC HDV Pro. We are shooting at night time near a beach and we need a portable light unit. Preferrably something under $100. Do you know of anything that we can build or buy. Thanks Mario Concepcion Jackson
  12. Whenever I am on a shoot I usally give my gaffer my circiut breaker finder , and the two of us find out what lines are on the same circuit. This will cut down on alot of problems during shooting time. Hope this helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
  13. How old is Oliver Ponce? Mario Concepcion Jackson
  14. A good filter for you to use is the Sunset filter. Hope this helps Mario Conceopcion Jackson
  15. Guys I appreciat the input. Thanks Mario Concepcion Jackson
  16. Sometimes I take my readings by pointing the sphere towards the camera. I dont see anything wrong with that. Mario Concepcion Jackson
  17. To me you are a Dp when you believe it in your heart. I am no Gordon Willis or Mauro Fiore but one day I will grow to be of that caliber. You have to always be shooting something on film, video, or whatever. Believe it in your heart and act accordingly. This is when you become whatever you set to be in life. Hope this Helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
  18. Hey guys, I have been wondering about how a dp goes about choosing a gaffer and what would be a an ideal (lol) relationship between the two. thanks Mario Concepcion Jackson
  19. Micheal made a good comment. First the film stock and the desired exposure need to determined. Nevertheless if your shooting on 500T or 320 T you could shoot at a T2.8 Of course you will probally have to flag and net off certain areas to get the negative fill. Hope this Helps
  20. I agree with Adam. There is no difference between big or small spaces. Just light it one piece at a time but make sure that you give yourself enough time to do so. Hop this helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
  21. I would shoot the 4k's throught the window but I would not use diffusion frames. I would just use reflectors and bounce cards on the inside. Hope this helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
  22. I agree with David. Shooting is shooting. You see what the director wants and what the story calls for and light form there. I use the same techniques in lighting film as I do in video or HD. Although I have never dp on HD but I have gaffed on it before. Again to me I used the exact same lighting approach. Hope This Helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
  23. Start doing as much grip and electric work you possibly can. Read AC and ICG magazines, constantly ask question here on cinematography.com, and alot praying. Hope This Helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
  24. One trick I always use to figure out how much light is lost by a filter is by using my light meter. I take an ambient reading without the filter and then place the filter over my meter and take another. That will tell you how much light you lose with the filter. Hope this helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
  25. I agree with Johnathan. The DVX 100A is a wonderful camera to shoot on. I have used quite a few times and i will be shooting on it again at the end of the month. It is a good camera and I would definetly recommend it. Hope This Helps Mario Concepcion Jackson
