Hi everyone! It's all in the title – anyone would know of fitting filters for Switar macro lenses for Bolex H16? I'm planning a shot where someone spits an olive stone at the camera and I'd rather damage a filter than the front lens…

Many thanks for your precise reply, Dom.

This is on a Kinoptic Tegea 5.7, c-mount. It looks just like plain, good old chips of paint peeled of the barrel. Could this be schneideritis? I bought it from a gentleman on ebay, who was surprised to see my pictures. On the ad the lens looks absolutely normal. I have no reason to doubt this gentleman's good faith. Could this have happened during transport? And more importantly, do you think this would affect image quality?

Hello everyone! I'm looking for a 400ft magazine for my beloved Bolex Rex5. I have an ESM motor but would also need the cable which as I understand connects the two. I'm in France so shipping inside the EU or from the UK would maybe be easier. Thanks!

Sorry Mark! I was very convinced by Robert and Tyler's hypothesis of a hair in the Spirit's gate and got a bit carried away. But you are absolutely right, I will check on the film when I receive it and will let you know here.

Many thanks, everyone. Case solved!

Yes Robert, this is a Spirit scan. Here is a clip to get a better view: https://vimeo.com/786946045/bbf9d547b5

Good to know, Mark! Will do.

Thanks Joerg, and thank you Frank for your informative reply. I'll make sure to check when I receive the film, but it's nice to confirm this probably did not happen in the camera.

Colour film conversion to BW in post

Many thanks for your helpful replies. It's quite a luxury to be able to receive such well-informed insights from people with your kind of expertise. La crême de la crême! Long live this place. -
I ended up using Double X and did not regret it. Long live Double X indeed!

Hi everyone, There is a wavy scratch on the latest footage I received from the lab. It's shot with a Bolex Rex5. It starts at the first second of the file, slides around a bit towards the center of the picture, then moves to the left side, then fades away, all in 50 seconds or so. No scratch after that. I'll clean the pressure plate anyway, but any idea of what could cause this?

WTB: Aaton LTR, XTR, Arri SR or similar, in Europe/UK
Jonathan Martin replied to Jonathan Martin's topic in Cine Marketplace
Thank you for the advice, Jefta. -
Hi! I have been shooting with a Bolex for years and am now looking for a silent 16 or S16 camera. My preference would be for an Aaton XTR or LTR, although I could gladly go for another model depending on price and availability. I'm based in the South of France so looking preferably in France and neighbouring countries, including UK. Thanks! Jonathan

Hi! I found a post asking the same question a few years earlier, but I'd like to know more: would anyone have experience with shooting on colour film, then converting it to BW in post? I did once (and wasn't too convinced with the process/result!), but I'm interested in having different point of views. I have some vision3 in my fridge that I would be interested in using for a project (to be shot in a well-lit studio). Budget-wise it would make sense, but then… Your input will be appreciated! Cheers

Hi @Stephen Perera ! I was interested in your post, having been debating wether or not doing just that for an upcoming project of mine. I'd be very interested in your experience. Cheers

Hey Sean! I'm going down the same road these days, would be curious of how you made your decision in the end? Hope the production is going great.

Hi everyone, It's all in the title! I have a Bolex H16, an ESM motor, and a Bolex "power handle" battery; I wonder if I could power the motor by plugging in directly the power adapter used to charge the battery? This would come handy for studio use. Alternatively, is there a specific power adapter for this? Cheers! Jonathan
