Lens characteristics on MFT sensor
Stef de Hoog posted a topic in Camera OperatingWhen shooting on a MFT sensor, in my case an Lumix GH6, do the characteristics of the focal length of the glass stay the same? For example: Let's say you want to shoot a nice portrait shot. Because of the so called 'crop factor' you would use a focal length of 25mm instead of the usual 50mm, to have the same frame. However would mean that the subject in the frame would have the characteristics of the 25mm? And does this then mean it is still better to use a real 50mm (which becomes a 100mm) to get the best portrait shot?
Kowa Prominar MFT Lenses
Brett Allbritton posted a topic in Lenses & Lens AccessoriesHey everybody, I'm considering investing in a 12mm cine lens for my BMPCC and while browsing I've come across the Kowa Prominar Micro Four Thirds lenses. They don't have geared focus rings, but do feature both F-stops and T-stops interestingly enough. Does anybody have experience with these lenses? All the footage and photos I've seen from them are quite lovely, but would they really be worth the extra money I might spend on them versus, say, a Rokinon or SLR Magic cine lens?
I’m selling my 5 Veydra Mini Primes in MFT. I purchased these brand new directly from Veydra as a kit and have taken excellent care of them since. I have used these on only a handful of projects, and they are always stored in their case with a silica canister inside. Each lens is in identical great condition, with light markings on the filter threads from normal use. Originally I was going to sell these as a kit, but since I received so many inquiries for individual lenses, I will be separating them and auctioning them off on eBay via the links below. 12mm - http://ebay.us/f89jYZ?cmpnId=5338273189 16mm - http://ebay.us/wrQPCH?cmpnId=5338273189 25mm - http://ebay.us/sf5OiI?cmpnId=5338273189 35mm - http://ebay.us/sMhAY4?cmpnId=5338273189 50mm - http://ebay.us/SGqToo?cmpnId=5338273189 6 Lens Case - http://ebay.us/jMWZlD?cmpnId=5338273189 Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions, or reach out to me on eBay. Voigtlander MFT vs Contax Zeiss FF
Martin Trabalik posted a topic in Lenses & Lens AccessoriesHello guys, I am in the process of building my kit and I would like to ask for your advice. I want to reach the most cinematic look while maintaining maximal portability and reasonable budget. So far I was using GH5 with 25mm Voigtlander lens and right now I am thinking of either getting also 10 and 42mm to complete my set or going full frame and getting old Contax Zeiss supers. I like how Voigtlanders work with light, but sometimes I feel I could get more filmic results with vintage lenses (for example with my old Hellios that I am sometimes using). I would like to hear your opinion about Contax Zeiss that are highly praised. As far as body goes. I like that GH5 can record 442 10bit internal and don't know about any full frame in the same size and price range that could do same. With modern fast and wide mft lenses, full frame kinda looses it's point, what do you think?
Best MFT Zoom for new BMPCC 4K?
Filippo Giani posted a topic in Lenses & Lens AccessoriesGood afternoon everyone, I have a run & gun gig coming up in the foreseeable future for which I'd like to give the new BMPCC 4K a shot (I don't technically own one yet, but hopefully will reasonably soon). Due to the job's specific nature, I will require an extremely lightweight and portable setup. I've done similar work in the past and always suffered from having to work with primes (both in terms of weight and overall practicality), so this time I decided I'd rather stick with a single zoom for the entirety of the shoot. On a full-frame camera I would probably just opt for the Sigma 18-35 f1.8, but being the new BM Pocket M4/3, I don't think that would give me enough range to handle a broad enough variety of situations. I've done a little bit of research for suitable options and found that quite a few people seem to be praising the Olympus 12-40 f2.8 M.Zuiko PRO as a good one for video. Has anyone here had any experience with it? Or would you know of any interesting alternative covering the same/similar range (24-80 equivalent)? I've also read that a few people appear to be very happy with C-mount vintage options, such as the Angenieux 12-120mm f2/2 (amazing range and constant aperture) but it weights a ton and the whole point is to retain flexibility while shooting. Also another set of issues that I've had with vintage Angenieux in the past has included very noticeable chromatic aberrations, heavy breathing and vignetting (all things that I would want to avoid for this project). However, if you're aware of any vintage lens that might fit the bill I'd be more than open to consider it. Please let me know if you have any recommendations for me, as I could gladly use some. Wish you all a lovely rest of your day and thank you for having taken the time Best, Filippo
Lens choices for BMCC MFT
Jan Tore Soerensen posted a topic in Lenses & Lens AccessoriesI recently aquired a BMCC, which lends a couple of questions. Now, I see that it is common to use adapters with this camera. Which lenses are great choices for this camera? And are there fully manual zooms under $1000? Also, is Metabones speedbooster with EF lenses a good option, or are the lenses just too big for the sensor? Thanks.
4/3 sensor size and MFT
Stefano Stroppa posted a topic in General DiscussionI read that the Panasonic AG-DVX200 features a 4/3-type, large formate image sensor. Doesn't the AF101 has a MFT sensor? So shouldn't it be a large format as well though the crop factor is around 1.7x to S35mm and 2x to full frame? or 4/3 and MFT are much different in size and format? thank you for any clarifications :)
I'm selling my Angenieux 12-120 cine zoom. Perfect lens for Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera, Panasonic GH2 / GH3 / Digital Bolex / SI2K. Lens is in great condition, glass crystal clear. Comes with front and read caps. Has MFT mount adapter (original mount is Cameflex). I bought it for 200 in Paris last summer, plus 80 for custom adapter. Selling for 150 because I don't use it anymore. Pick up from London, UK or postage within UK or EU. Thank you.
Hey all, Just wanted to share a new music video that I directed. The video is for a Seattle band called Iska Dhaaf and features cameos by many current Seattle musicians including Macklemore and members of The Lonely Forest. Entire video was shot with two Blackmagic Cinema Cameras. We used a variety of Nikkor lens from 1970s to get the look. Project was cut in Premiere CC and graded in Resolve. Check it out and let me know what think. Thanks!
