  1. Hi, We are two technicians working in the film industry in France (a grip guy and a gaffer) and we just discovered this very interesting forum. We particularly noticed that gaffers and cinematographers were asking questions about light output and what aperture is obtained at a certain distance. It happens that with the help of two IT engineers we developed an iOS app responding to this question about 2 years ago. First and for all, we’re not going to post messages everywhere on this forum to sell our app nor are we going to pollute your threads to gain in visibility. We just think s
  2. Anybody here tried and/or played with the Mole Richardson Bi-color led fresnels? Especially the big ones like the 5k or 10k equivalent. Or even these same lights in single color... Any thoughts, pros, cons, everything you have would be greatly appreciated!
  3. As an illustration of how unexpected things can happen if one has the patience, the observation and a little luck. These 4x 650 Mole Richardson fresnels with barn doors, scrims and two good stands sat on the Kiwi internet (Trademe) for weeks at USD165. I watched them float by and did nothing. Later they appeared again at USD231 and sat for weeks. Still no reaction from me. The day I bid, someone else was onto it. So I paid a premium for my indecisive action. But USD297 is still pretty good. And this is the antipodes, not the mother country.....
  4. Virtually everything you need to start lighting projects professionally without a truck. The only thing you might want to pick up is some c-stands. I slowly built this up over the years, it's configured to be compact, quite economical, reliable and well organized so no equipment is lost during a shoot. Entire grip & lighting package has been optimized to fit comfortably in a 4-door sedan car. Only looking for local pick up in the Chicago area. Asking $6,000 (cash or cryptocurrency/Bitcoin) OBO CART 1 x Rock'n'Roller Multi-Cart R10RT "Max" 1 x Custom built shelf for Rock
  5. Hi everyone, I am shooting a music video this weekend inside a church with big windows on both sides. Taking place at night. On one side of the church, I want to blast some 2Ks through the windows at an angle to create shafts of moonlight. The interior of the church will remain dimly lit with just some candles and maybe some simple fill for his close ups, but we want high contrast for silhouettes etc. We've got a hazer ready to go for the shafts of light. But I can't figure out how to hide these combo stands that the lamps are on. We want them to all be placed directly in the mi

  7. At the CCW convention I saw some really cool new lights at the Shadowstone Lighting booth (I was giving a talk on lighting reality TV). One was the new Tungsten HMI Joker from 5600k and the other was the new LED baby zip light from Mole. You can read more and see pictures on my little blog here -http://www.lightingforcinematography.com/lighting-news/

  9. Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has had any real contact with the new Mole LED Fresnels yet? I'm very interested in getting a couple of the 400w Studio Juniors in daylight - photometrically they're basically equivalent to 575w HMI fresnels (without the bulb changes or worrying about ballasts) but MUCH cheaper (half the price of an Arri D5), and with the added benefits of full dimmability (without colour-shift) and no real issues with flicker for high framerate work. All of which should make them a really useful light IMO. I'd love to hear some feedback from anyone who's used
