Jackie Morton
I'm thinkin Canon HF100 or something in that price range. Is that the best one or is there another one I should look at? I'm probably going to buy used since I'll grow out of it soon - I wanna get into filming shorts.
Tom Lowe
The Canon HG21 looks kind of awesome. This camera was like $1,100 a few months ago. Now it's down to 799! http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/5760...AVCHD_Hard.html If you also shoot stills, you might look at the 5D2, which shoots 1080p video. It's video functions are kind of limited though.

Matthew Buick
If picture quality is your top priority then the HV30 is certainly the best you can for low money. For some reason the prices have been plummeting recently. This video here I feel is a pretty decent measure of what sort of images this camera can produce. I used to own an HV20 and thought it was pretty decent.

Great video.. says HV20 though. So definitely HV20 over HF100? Sorry, I know nothing about cams... but quality is definitely #1.
Matthew Buick
How does the HV30 compare to the HG21? I used to own an HV20 and thought it was pretty decent. Well I don't own a HG21. I just know that for those favouring manual functions and image quality the HV20/30 is the one at the moment. Perhaps the Sony SR12 can come close, but I don't think it'll be HV30 level in terms of picture quality. Premium Member Stephen Williams Posted December 29, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted December 29, 2008 It has alot of information about all kinds of cameras, lenses, accessories, etc. Let me know what you think. Hi, I did not see any useful information at all, just a list of specs supplied by a manufacture. Stephen
