so is that a quarter of a mm or something? how far do you go to do that and have you ever had damage from processing or running through the camera?

If we are talking about a MAX8 conversion of a DS8 camera, you have to bear in mind that it is not feasible to extend all the way to the edge of the film like it is on cartridge super8 because at that point some light would spill over and expose the edge of the B-side of the film. A thin barrier should remain at all times.

There is a border of almost .7 mm which could at max be annexed. The trick is that more of the height can be used as there is less need to crop for a 16:9 So in square mm gain is much better. :)

 

You can always the option to do nothing and just crop. After all it is just trick the get a slighty better deal from a frame.

 

 

 

BTW Processing doesn't damage the sides or border of your film. If it does get another lab.
