Francisco Martins
Yep! This item Im looking at says its "S16 by PSTechnik". Is that Super 16? And is a magazine modified to that or only the camera's gate?
Francisco Martins
Yep! Note: Couldnt edit previous post. What I mean to say is, can a magazine modified for Super 16 still be used for a Standard 16 camera? Thanks!
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted August 26, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted August 26, 2012 A mag modified for S16 has just had the rollers (and sometimes the film guides) altered a little so they don't scratch the film in the expanded S16 area during transport. Perfectly fine for Standard 16.
Joshua Reis
Yes you can mis super 16 and standard 16 SR mags and bodies. However, it is not recommended to mix high speed and standard speed SR mags and SR bodies.
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted October 12, 2012 Premium Member Share Posted October 12, 2012 Yes you can mis super 16 and standard 16 SR mags and bodies. However, it is not recommended to mix high speed and standard speed SR mags and SR bodies. Yes, the high speed mags have a single-piece pressure plate, compared to the two-piece plate on standard mags, and the high speed camera flange depth is set 0.03 mm shorter than in a standard camera. These differences allow more 'breathing' space for the film as it rushes through the gate at high speed. It's not recommended, but if for some reason a high speed mag was used on a standard body it wouldn't break anything.
