  2. Future video samples with close ups and other varying shots of people/models, even lighting up some locations, would provide useful examples of the potential detail quality of this camera. They'd be very helpful. So far, it looks like it could replicate the late 70s/entire 80s film look, and maybe some modern lighting aesthetics could produce dynamic results.
  3. Has there been a firmware hack or something developed to allow for such?
  4. Would anyone have a spare they're willing to sell? Or know of a seller/vendor? Thank you.
  5. Hi Karl, I have an ARRI SR 1 package, but it can easily be converted to Ultra16 without any lens re-centering, yielding an automatic 1.85:1 aspect ratio. So it matches the SR3's 1.66:1 with less work and machining needed, as well as no extra development and scanning cost at the labs. This package includes: -SR1 Body (great condition, unused) -Zeiss Zoom 10-100 F2.8 -Extension Eyepiece -Dual volt battery charger -2x ARRI SR Cine 60 12 Volt 3AH battery -3x ARRI SR 400 ft magazine -ARRI SR Backdoor cover/magazine cover -ARRI SR LWS-3 support rod base -Sound Barney -Rain Cover -Gitzo G-1504 Professional Tripod with O'Connor Model 50F head Let me know here or through PM!
  6. I would honestly prefer to have David Tatterstal back as DP. He did beautiful, stylish work and knows how to maintain the visual language of the series both in lighting and composure.
  7. Checked my local Barnes & Noble and on the asc site and there doesn't seem to be any coverage on the film. Am I missing something? Or what gives?
  8. Take my money. Very interested. I hope this is real. Looking forward to your demos.
  9. The movie was lame. Cheesy, no depth. Bleh. They should've just bit the bullet, and bought the rights to adapt Neon Genesis Evangelion which this film riffs off of.
  10. Wow. Yes, how did you get the footage so sharp for Super8? And what resolution did you scan it in at?
  11. Side by Side was a pretty superficial attempt to analyze the situation.
  12. They used Hawks for Star Wars Episode I. Suffice to say, its a great looking film.
  13. Can anyone offer recommendations for laptops for 2K-4K video editing? Or just the required specs for fluid editing? Everything I've looked up seems contradictory or confusing and it'd nice to hear from professionals. Thank you.
  14. 3D didnt bother me at all besides the few times when it wasnt aligned. Brilliant looking film and one of the best Treks in a while. Only disappointment was that the picture quality wasn't as mindblowingly sharp as Dark Knight Rises in the IMAX segments, probably because of the 3D processing.
  15. Went to see Star Trek Into Darkness in IMAX and saw a trailer for Man of Steel and it looked real damn good, as did the anamorphic parts of Star Trek. This was surprising to me because I didnt think 35mm looked good blown up onto 70 after having watched The Dark Knight Rises where its anamorphic parts were not only soft but cropped to 1.85:1 from the sides in the process and did not impress me whatsoever. What could be the reason for the difference in quality? P. S. I noticed weird specks floating across the screen during the Star Trek presentation (which was dual strip 3D). Is that dust or something?
  16. But is it sharp and accurate enough for focus pulling?
  17. Moises, it would be appreciated if you could tell us how you pulled that off (how did you connect the iphone to the camera, with what, etc). We're all kinda of in the dark and I'd to see if we can extend this to 16mm as well. Thank you.
  18. What are the differences between the two sets of lenses?
  19. Anyone familiar with the film able to recognize the lens lengths used? The only one known is a 40mm that Meheux conceded in American Cinematographer. Thanks!
  20. So I dont suppose anyone would know which of those listed gel combination formulas would bring me closest to the look Im trying to get?
  21. So the new 4K Blackmagic could handle a 10-100 Zeiss lens made for Standard 16mm given a proper mount?
