Kalin Ivanov
Hi everybody! I am going to be using a PAL camera and the shoot is going to be in the US. I am going to use some lighting rented in the US. My question is would there be any flickering recorded on the tape because of the 110V/60Hz? My initial thought was that there wouldn't be any flivckering but I'd like to hear your oppinion based on experience. Thank you in advance! Dimitrios Koukas <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi, You need 1/60 as far as I remember. Its the same adjustment as used for tube computer screens, I think it is called Clear Scan. I was able to do the same trick with a Z1 recording NTSC DVCAM in PAL Land a couple of months ago. Stephen

Stephen <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh! Yes now I get what you mean. Some cameras that they don't have the CLS, sometimes they Do have the 1/60 shutter option, first in a row of shutter speeds. You just have to select shutter speed at 1/60 and that's it. I believe though that all the Sony camera's after 1998 or something near, equiped all pro camera's with this.(the CLS) wich works terific for PC CRT monitors. Ok but what camera our friend here is using? we just know it's a PAL. Dimitrios Koukas

Kalin Ivanov
Thank you for your help! It is highy appreciated. You genleman are great! I am still not sure about the camera that I am going to use. Seems any camera with a shutter speed of 1/60 would do the job.
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted September 24, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted September 24, 2005 Hi, I've shot plenty of PAL in the US and fluorescent flicker is visible, but very subtle, even with default settings. Phil
