Samuel McCarron-Sweeney
Hey there! I have no idea what I’m doing so thanks in advance for any help you can offer! I am looking to record simple videos of me speaking to a camera in the corner space of my living room. See photo Here. I will be sitting in the bean bag chair. preferably, I would like to have the lighting set up where I can take vertical iPhone camera shots with both a zoomed out view of my whole body on the bean bag as well as a more zoomed in view of just my upper body. My budget is 200cad max id say. I have seen on other posts that the white walls may cause a problem. I could hang a darker back drop and then repin my wall decor if need be but would rather not. But again, pretty in the dark when it comes to cinematography and lighting, no pun intended, so any thoughts would be helpful. cheers
JB Earl
unless you need the scene to be dramatic the white walls are fine. You could just us a clip on reflector flood (from a hardware store) bounced off one of walls outside the frame. I think the iphone does better with daylight balanced sources, so try a higher output LED daylight bulb in it (100w equivalent or more. (You could also use an LED par30 or such instead of the reflector)
Ed Conley
As JB mentioned you can try some regular household LED or a Ring light kit might work for youhttps://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Dimmable-Lighting-Portrait-Shooting/dp/B0784SSRZS/ref=sr_1_8?crid=2IUHSHKAU2TI3&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.YxZACVePuI4fPU6rei1dVVPAGg4dEZn7LPeyF6Kn0giIatfpp1tOZv5wnbUfv-ol5v-4thQBUwnuSBQDUu-zzIrvDDRtFXHYOP8Oah9NiQsyRNluKZArGaJ6iUSsTuKEQmgsENZf_F1z-C10_1D5bn_NXKw3TkKcx9aIkvjDYQoWrNnF3x1AVO57lZvbT7fmSdv0bQ6l-2F9UwMV-qo5Jmjs1kbxbkr0ZRO1ZPSJjiY.Za3gF8hKjof3hNYeuF9OM-J6ZmBk5K57n7AbYMuWAhI&dib_tag=se&keywords=LED+ring+light+photo+lights&qid=1705438981&sprefix=led+ring+light+photo+lights%2Caps%2C124&sr=8-8
