Moe Flaherty
H! With hybrid technoglogy here. Do you think we should begin a new subcatagory, perhaps, 4:4:4 or 4K or RAW! (for Dalsa talk). I personally want to start calling High Def. Medium Def. and the new hybrids with their ability to put out 4:4:4 ...UBERdef! ;) What ya think of a new sub catagory? Thank you! Moe Flaherty
H! When I meant to say was, all these hybrids are currently under the MAIN catagory of "HD Only", and that is not quite encompassing, is it? So I am suggesting a new MAIN catagory. Thanks again. Premium Member Max Jacoby Posted December 12, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted December 12, 2006 While I agree that there is a certain disparity between the high-end cameras and the consumer HD cameras (whose names I can't even recall now) I feel we have enough different main categories as it is. In the end they are all digital cameras so they do belong together in my mind.

Thank you for the reply, AH, yes they are all digital, but they are not all JUST HD, is my point. Perhaps the MAIN category title needs to be amended to give space to the Hybrids (in the subcats) that are capable of pumping out more! How about HD and Beyond ONLY! ???? moe flaherty minneapolis wish this thing had spell check!
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted December 12, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted December 12, 2006 Hi, I'm with Mr. Jacoby. The line between low end, medium end, or really super high end camera systems is very blurry. That said, I think it's as well to bear these differences in mind. Premium Member Max Jacoby Posted December 12, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted December 12, 2006 The difference between 4 K Bayer cameras and uncompressed/slightly compressed HD cameras is not big enough to warrant a new category in my opinion, especially since in this new 4K category there would only be two cameras, one of whom hasn't been used on a feature yet and the other isn't even available yet. The Dalsa, Genesis, D-20, Viper, F-950, SI and Red all belong in the same category.
Gavin Greenwalt
Perhaps the category should just be called DC Only.
Moe Flaherty
Max, What I am suggesting is to change the MAIN category TITLE from HD ONLY to something that reflects what is in the subcats. more accurately. merely that. only that. Regards, moe flaherty minneapolis

Premium Member Brad Grimmett Posted December 17, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted December 17, 2006 Sorry, I misread and posted too quickly. If we change the HD ONLY forum to something else, then where will all the HD posts go? I'm confused. Apparently I was too. Sorrry about that. Hi, I was thinking that Digital cameras could be categoriesed by price:- under $10,000 under $20,000 under $40,000 over $40,000 Thats body only or with fixed lens, on the assumption that manufactures choose the market segment that they aim their equipment for. Just my 2c. Stephen

Fixed lens & 1/3 lens mount 1/2 inch Lens mount 2/3 inch lens mount Panavision & PL lens mount Other lens mount. Stephen

Patrizio De Sica
I said better so can you also classify the different grade of the dumbness quality on the previous one?
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted December 18, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted December 18, 2006 I prefer fewer, more general categories than hyper-specific ones. Have you been over to the DVINFO.NET site and seen how many micro-categories there are?
