James Rydings
Hi, Do you know of any software, or calculation I can use to work out the height and width of an object needed to fill the frame? I want to be able to work out for exampls, if I have a 50mm lense shooting on 35mm and the camera is 30ft away from the object, then what height and width would the object need to be to just fill the entire frame. I want to be able to work this out with different lenses, different formats, and different distances from the object. I am sorry if this is a little complicated. Let me know if you dont understand me. Thanks, James
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted December 15, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted December 15, 2006 There are field of view (FOV) charts for lenses, like in the ASC Manual. And there are some online calculators for that.
James Rydings
Thanks for your reply. I actually just realised that there is a FOV calculator in pCAM. James
Igor Trajkovski
Hi Try FILM - a small windows software. http://www.cinematography.net/Files/film.zip From CML. It has the exact thing that you need. On the main menu select "Lenses". Voila. More good downloadables from CML @: CML - Software & Files section Best Igor Trajjkovski
Daniel Madsen
In panavision's CD catalogue there is a very useful calculator in the form of an excel file. I can send it to anyone that's interested. Dan
Premium Member Laurent Andrieux Posted December 15, 2006 Premium Member Share Posted December 15, 2006 Distance from camera to object X image size = Object size X focal length
